Align your credentials with USCIS specialty occupation standards
Project Engineer roles at BKF Engineers involve licensed civil or structural work that clearly meets specialty occupation criteria. Make sure your degree is in a directly related engineering field and obtain a credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the U.S.
Target BKF's project-specific hiring cycles
BKF Engineers staffs Project Engineers around active land development, transportation, and infrastructure contracts. Applying when a regional office has a newly awarded public agency project gives your application more urgency and increases the likelihood sponsorship discussions move forward quickly.
Understand how EB-2 and EB-3 differ for your situation
BKF Engineers sponsors through employment-based Green Card categories, not temporary work visas. EB-2 requires a position demonstrating advanced degree necessity, while EB-3 covers professionals with a standard bachelor's. Your role scope and degree level determine which PERM-based pathway your employer files under.
Prepare for the PERM labor certification timeline upfront
DOL's PERM process requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker was available for the role. This audit-heavy stage can take six months or longer. Starting the conversation about sponsorship during your offer negotiation, not after onboarding, keeps the process on track.
Use Migrate Mate to filter BKF Engineers openings by sponsorship type
Project Engineer listings at BKF can span multiple office locations and project types. Use Migrate Mate to browse open roles filtered by the specific visa categories BKF has filed under, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already part of the hiring expectation.
Confirm your engineering license eligibility before the offer stage
Many BKF Project Engineer roles expect candidates to be working toward or holding an EIT or PE license. State licensure boards have specific requirements for foreign-educated engineers. Resolving any transcript or experience-hour gaps before you reach the offer stage prevents delays in both hiring and the subsequent PERM filing.

Find Project Engineer at BKF Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity for Project Engineers sits within employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B temporary work visas. If you're currently on H-1B status with another employer, BKF could still pursue a Green Card filing on your behalf, but you'd need to discuss bridging your existing status during the offer process with their HR team.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Engineer roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers has filed under EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories for Project Engineers. EB-2 applies when the position requires an advanced degree or equivalent, while EB-3 covers roles filled by professionals with a bachelor's degree. Both pathways go through DOL's PERM labor certification process before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Project Engineer roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers typically looks for Project Engineers with a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or a related engineering discipline, along with demonstrated project delivery experience in land development, transportation, or public infrastructure. Progress toward an EIT or PE license is often expected. Candidates with experience on California or other western U.S. public agency projects tend to align well with BKF's client base.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can find open Project Engineer positions at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by the visa categories BKF has sponsored. Applications typically go through BKF's careers page, where you'll submit a resume tailored to the specific project type and office location. Flagging your visa status early in the process helps BKF's recruiting team assess sponsorship feasibility before advancing you to interviews.
How do I plan around the Green Card filing timeline at BKF Engineers?
The PERM labor certification stage alone can take six months to over a year depending on DOL processing backlogs. Once PERM is certified, USCIS processes the I-140 immigrant petition, and your priority date in the EB-2 or EB-3 queue determines when you can file for adjustment of status. For nationals of India or China, visa bulletin backlogs extend this timeline significantly, so starting the process as early as possible after joining matters.
