Align your credentials with PE licensure expectations
H W Lochner operates in transportation and infrastructure consulting where EIT registration and progress toward a Professional Engineer license signals long-term value. Having your NCEES records ready and any foreign credential evaluations completed strengthens your profile before you apply.
Target openings tied to funded infrastructure projects
Consulting firms staff up when project contracts are awarded. H W Lochner's Project Engineer roles often align with state DOT contracts and federal highway programs, so tracking active project announcements in your target region helps you time applications when headcount is genuinely open.
Confirm the role meets H-1B specialty occupation criteria
For a Project Engineer role, the position must require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific engineering discipline. Generalist postings that accept any technical degree can complicate H-1B approval, so review the job description closely and ask the recruiter whether the role has been sponsored before.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
H-1B sponsorship covers the petition and filing fees, but PERM-based Green Card sponsorship is a separate conversation. Raise both during the offer negotiation so you understand the firm's standard practice before you sign, not after your first performance review.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Project Engineer roles at sponsoring firms
Searching broadly wastes time on firms that won't file. Filter specifically for Project Engineer openings at companies with H-1B sponsorship history in the consulting sector using Migrate Mate, so every application you send goes to an employer already set up to support the process.
Prepare for DOL prevailing wage requirements early
H W Lochner must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for your role and work location. If you're negotiating salary, knowing the prevailing wage level for Project Engineers in your target city helps you understand the floor the employer is already working from.

Find Project Engineer at H W Lochner JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does H W Lochner sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, H W Lochner has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Project Engineer roles. As an engineering consulting firm working on federally funded infrastructure projects, they have established processes for sponsoring technical staff. Sponsorship is typically tied to full-time positions, and the role must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring a specific engineering degree under USCIS guidelines.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at H W Lochner?
Applications go through H W Lochner's careers portal, where openings are listed by region and project type. You can also find Project Engineer roles at H W Lochner filtered specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which saves you from applying to postings where sponsorship isn't confirmed. Tailor your resume to the specific engineering discipline and project type listed in each posting.
Which visa types does H W Lochner use for Project Engineer roles?
H-1B is the primary nonimmigrant visa for Project Engineer hires, covering the specialty occupation requirement that a specific engineering degree is needed. For longer-term sponsorship, H W Lochner also supports employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 categories, which typically involve PERM labor certification filed with the DOL after you've established yourself in the role.
What qualifications does H W Lochner expect for Project Engineer roles?
Most Project Engineer postings require a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, transportation, or a related engineering discipline. Candidates who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and are working toward Professional Engineer licensure are viewed favorably, since PE credentials are often required for client-facing work on state and federal contracts. Relevant internship or project delivery experience strengthens applications significantly.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take for a Project Engineer offer?
Once you have an offer, your employer files the Labor Condition Application with the DOL, which typically takes seven business days for standard processing. The H-1B petition then goes to USCIS, with standard adjudication taking three to six months. Premium processing is available and reduces the USCIS decision window to about 15 business days, which most consulting firms use to align your start date with project timelines.
