Align your credentials to WSP's discipline areas
WSP organizes its Project Engineer hires by sector, such as transportation, water, or buildings. Match your resume and cover letter to one specific discipline rather than applying broadly, since hiring managers assess technical fit before evaluating sponsorship feasibility.
Request an LCA-backed offer early
Before accepting a WSP offer, confirm the Labor Condition Application will be filed with DOL before your start date. LCA certification is a prerequisite for H-1B and E-3 petitions, and delays at this stage can compress your onboarding timeline significantly.
Target WSP offices in high-infrastructure regions
WSP's Project Engineer openings concentrate in states with active public infrastructure programs. Offices tied to state DOT contracts or federal projects tend to have more predictable headcount needs and longer hiring horizons, which gives sponsorship timelines more room to work.
Confirm PERM eligibility before the green card conversation
WSP sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for qualifying engineers, but PERM labor certification requires your role to have been advertised at the prevailing wage. Raise the green card pathway question during final offer negotiation, not after you've started.
Browse open Project Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Filtering by role and sponsorship type helps you identify which WSP positions are actively hiring internationally. Use Migrate Mate to surface Project Engineer openings at WSP that match your visa category before you apply through the company's own portal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does WSP sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, WSP sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineer roles. The company files petitions through the annual USCIS lottery, which opens in March for an October 1 start date. If you're already on H-1B with another employer, WSP can file an H-1B transfer, which isn't subject to the cap and can take effect more quickly.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at WSP?
Applications go through WSP's careers portal, where you can filter by discipline, location, and job level. Tailor your application to a specific engineering sector, such as transportation or environmental services, since WSP's Project Engineer openings vary significantly by practice area. You can also browse open roles on Migrate Mate to identify positions where international sponsorship is expected.
Which visa types does WSP commonly use for Project Engineer hires?
WSP sponsors H-1B, E-3 visa, TN, and F-1 OPT for Project Engineer roles. Australian citizens are well positioned to pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and processes faster than H-1B. Canadian and Mexican engineers in qualifying engineering disciplines can explore the TN visa. For longer-term pathways, WSP also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for eligible engineers.
What qualifications does WSP expect for Project Engineer roles?
Most Project Engineer positions at WSP require a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as civil, mechanical, structural, or environmental engineering. Professional Engineer licensure or active progress toward it is frequently preferred, particularly for roles tied to public sector contracts. Relevant internship or post-graduation experience in project delivery, design, or field work strengthens your application considerably.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at WSP?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B petitions must be filed in April and approved by October 1, so plan for a six-month gap between offer and start date if you're subject to the cap. E-3 and TN visa applications typically process within a few weeks, either through consular appointment or at the port of entry. USCIS premium processing can reduce H-1B adjudication to 15 business days if WSP opts in.
