Align your credentials to consulting-specific PE pathways
Westwood operates across civil, geotechnical, and environmental disciplines. Before applying, verify your degree and any licensure documentation maps directly to the engineering subdiscipline listed in the job posting, not just a general engineering field.
Target postings that list LCA-eligible work locations
Westwood staffs Project Engineers across multiple state offices. Each work location requires a separate Labor Condition Application filed with DOL, so roles tied to a specific site office are more straightforward to sponsor than roles with fluid multi-state deployment.
Raise visa sponsorship before the offer stage
Engineering consulting firms often route hiring through technical leads who may be unfamiliar with sponsorship logistics. Confirming sponsorship availability during the second interview round, not after an offer, prevents late-stage withdrawal when HR steps in.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Project Engineer roles at Westwood
Westwood posts Project Engineer openings across disciplines and offices frequently. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Westwood roles that align with your visa type so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already a known option.
Understand how OPT STEM extension timelines fit consulting project cycles
If you're on F-1 OPT, your 24-month STEM extension window needs to overlap with Westwood's H-1B filing cycle. USCIS begins accepting H-1B cap registrations each March, so a start date in the second half of OPT gives you the strongest runway for transition.
Prepare for PERM documentation requirements early if targeting Green Card
EB-2 and EB-3 PERM filings require detailed recruitment records and a prevailing wage determination from DOL. Ask Westwood's HR team which Green Card pathway they typically use for Project Engineers before accepting an offer, not after onboarding.

Find Project Engineer at Westwood Professional Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Westwood Professional Services sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, Westwood Professional Services sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineers. The company operates across infrastructure and environmental consulting disciplines where specialty occupation requirements are well-established, making H-1B eligibility relatively straightforward for degreed engineers. Confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process, since individual office hiring managers may not own that decision directly.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Engineer roles at Westwood Professional Services?
Westwood sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization pathway for Project Engineers, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates entering through internship or early-career pipelines. For longer-term permanent residence, Westwood has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways. TN and J-1 sponsorship has also been part of their hiring mix depending on the role and candidate background.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Project Engineer roles at Westwood Professional Services?
Westwood typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, geotechnical, or a related engineering discipline. Entry-level Project Engineer roles often accept candidates with internship experience, while senior postings expect several years of project delivery experience in a consulting context. Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer licensure progress is often noted as a preference, particularly for client-facing project responsibilities.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at Westwood Professional Services?
You can browse and apply for Project Engineer openings at Westwood Professional Services directly through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. Applications typically go through Westwood's internal ATS, and the process includes a technical screening followed by one or two interview rounds with the hiring office's engineering leadership.
How do I time my application to Westwood if I'm on F-1 OPT approaching expiration?
Target applying to Westwood at least six to eight months before your OPT expires. This gives enough lead time for Westwood to file an H-1B cap registration in March through USCIS, with an October 1 start date if selected. If you're STEM OPT-eligible, your 24-month extension provides a longer buffer, but starting the H-1B conversation with HR early in that window is still essential.
