Align your credentials to WSP's disciplines
WSP hires AVPs across engineering, environmental science, and management consulting. Before applying, confirm your degree and professional licensure map to the specific practice area. A P.E. or equivalent credential strengthens your specialty occupation case for H-1B or E-3 filings.
Target WSP offices in cap-exempt metro markets
WSP operates offices affiliated with government clients and research institutions in certain cities. Roles tied to those engagements may support cap-exempt H-1B filings, letting you start without waiting for the annual lottery in April.
Request LCA details before accepting an offer
Before signing, ask WSP's HR team which prevailing wage level they intend to certify with DOL. AVP-level roles typically fall at Level III or IV. Confirming this early protects you if your offered salary is later scrutinized during USCIS adjudication.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open AVP postings
WSP posts AVP roles across practice areas and regions at different times of year. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions by visa type and role level so you're applying to listings that are actively tied to sponsorship-eligible openings.
Prepare a PERM-aware work history early
If WSP sponsors your Green Card through PERM, DOL requires a detailed work history with precise dates and duties. Start compiling employment records, tax documents, and reference contacts now so the audit response window does not catch you unprepared.
Clarify TN eligibility before your final interview
Canadian and Mexican nationals in engineering or management consulting may qualify for TN status, which WSP can support without lottery dependency. Confirm the specific occupational category applies to your AVP role description before your offer negotiation begins.

Find Assistant Vice President at WSP JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WSP sponsor H-1B visas for Assistant Vice Presidents?
Yes, WSP sponsors H-1B visas for Assistant Vice President roles. At this seniority level, positions typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering, science, or professional field. WSP's in-house immigration team manages the petition process, including Labor Condition Application filing with DOL and the USCIS I-129 petition.
How do I apply for Assistant Vice President jobs at WSP?
You can apply directly through WSP's careers portal or find sponsorship-eligible AVP openings on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa type. AVP postings at WSP typically require significant project leadership experience and may specify a technical discipline. Tailoring your application to the practice area, whether infrastructure, environment, or advisory, improves your fit with hiring managers.
Which visa types does WSP commonly use for Assistant Vice President roles?
WSP sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT for AVP-level positions, depending on your nationality and background. Australian citizens are well-positioned for the E-3, which carries no lottery. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations can pursue TN status. For longer-term pathways, WSP also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for established employees at this level.
What qualifications does WSP expect for Assistant Vice President candidates?
AVP candidates at WSP typically hold a relevant bachelor's degree and a professional credential such as a P.E., PMP, or equivalent. Several years of progressive project or team leadership experience within consulting, engineering, or environmental services is expected. For visa purposes, your degree field needs to align directly with the role's technical scope, which WSP and USCIS will assess during petition review.
How do I manage my visa timeline when switching to WSP from another employer?
If you're transferring an existing H-1B, WSP can file an H-1B transfer petition that allows you to start work once USCIS receives it, without waiting for approval. The 60-day grace period after your previous employment ends gives you time to secure a new petition. Coordinating your last day with your new start date carefully avoids any gap in authorized status.
