Align your credentials to U.S. licensure expectations
Garver operates heavily in regulated engineering disciplines where EIT certification matters. Before applying, verify your foreign degree is evaluated by a NACES-approved credential service so it reads as equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's in engineering on your resume.
Target Garver's infrastructure and water divisions first
Project Engineer openings in Garver's water resources and transportation groups tend to have clearer specialty occupation documentation, which strengthens H-1B petitions. Roles tied to specific technical disciplines are easier to defend at the USCIS adjudication stage than broadly scoped generalist positions.
Search Garver's open Project Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Garver posts Project Engineer positions across multiple regional offices simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter active openings by visa type so you're only reviewing roles where sponsorship is confirmed, not just assumed from company reputation.
Clarify cap-subject timing before your interview
If you're moving from OPT or CPT, confirm with Garver's HR team whether your start date aligns with the H-1B fiscal year cap cycle. USCIS only accepts cap-subject petitions starting April 1, and a misaligned offer timeline can leave you in a gap between status periods.
Understand how DOL prevailing wage affects your offer
Garver must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting an H-1B petition, certifying your salary meets the prevailing wage for the role and location. Knowing which DOL wage level your experience maps to helps you evaluate whether an offer is approvable, not just competitive.

Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineer roles. The company operates across engineering disciplines where specialty occupation status is well-supported, which matters during USCIS adjudication. Sponsorship is more commonly initiated for roles with defined technical scopes, such as those in water resources, transportation, or structural engineering, rather than broadly defined project management positions.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Engineer roles at Garver?
Garver supports several visa categories for Project Engineers, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 for permanent residence. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree level, and how far along you are in your career. TN is often the fastest route for qualifying Canadian and Mexican engineers.
What qualifications and experience does Garver expect for Project Engineer roles?
Garver typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, environmental, or a related engineering discipline, along with EIT certification or progress toward a PE license. For mid-level roles, two to five years of project delivery experience in consulting or public-sector environments is common. Foreign degrees should be evaluated by a NACES-approved credential service before you apply to avoid delays during the sponsorship review.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at Garver?
You can find and filter Garver's open Project Engineer positions by visa type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces only roles where sponsorship has been confirmed. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply directly through Garver's careers portal. Tailor your resume to highlight the specific engineering discipline and project delivery experience relevant to that office's focus area, since Garver's regional teams hire for distinct practice areas.
How do I manage timing if I'm on OPT and targeting a Garver H-1B sponsorship?
If you're on F-1 OPT, Garver would need to file your H-1B petition during the April 1 cap filing window for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1 and you have a STEM-eligible degree, a 24-month STEM OPT extension through your university can bridge the gap. Confirm your STEM eligibility and OPT end date well before you begin interviewing so timing is clear from the start.
