Align your credentials to PE licensing expectations
Garver's consulting work often requires or leads toward Professional Engineer licensure. Before applying, confirm your academic transcripts are in order for potential NCEES evaluation, since foreign degrees frequently need credential review before PE exam eligibility is established.
Target Garver's infrastructure and energy service lines
Garver staffs Mechanical Engineers heavily across facilities, water, and energy projects. Framing your resume around HVAC, plumbing systems, or mechanical infrastructure design positions you inside their highest-volume hiring areas rather than against a generic engineering applicant pool.
Clarify your visa category early in conversations
Garver sponsors multiple visa types including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Telling the recruiter your exact status and authorization timeline upfront prevents late-stage offer complications and lets the firm plan LCA filing with the DOL on the correct timeline.
Prepare for PERM by documenting project experience precisely
If you're targeting a Green Card through Garver, PERM requires demonstrating that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Keep detailed records of specialized skills used on consulting projects, since vague job descriptions are the most common reason DOL audits slow PERM cases.
Find Garver's open roles through Migrate Mate
Garver posts Mechanical Engineer openings across multiple locations and project types. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Garver roles that include visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from the job listing.

Find Mechanical Engineer at Garver JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineer roles. As a consulting firm with active infrastructure and facilities projects, they have established processes for employer-sponsored petitions. If you're pursuing an H-1B, confirm your offer timeline aligns with the April 1 USCIS filing window for the October 1 cap-subject start date, and discuss premium processing options with HR early.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at Garver?
Applications go through Garver's careers portal, where roles are listed by service line and location. Before applying, tailor your resume to reflect the specific discipline, whether that's mechanical systems, facilities, or energy. Migrate Mate lets you browse Garver's current Mechanical Engineer openings filtered by visa sponsorship, which helps you identify the most relevant positions before submitting directly through Garver's site.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Mechanical Engineers?
Garver supports several visa categories for Mechanical Engineers, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active degree programs, J-1 for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa pathways for candidates pursuing permanent residence. The right category depends on your nationality, education level, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Garver expect for Mechanical Engineer roles?
Most Mechanical Engineer positions at Garver require a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, which directly supports H-1B specialty occupation eligibility. Roles in facilities and infrastructure often expect experience with HVAC design, plumbing systems, or mechanical drawings. Progress toward EIT or PE licensure is frequently noted as preferred, and candidates with REVIT or AutoCAD proficiency tend to be more competitive across service lines.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Garver?
Timeline depends on the visa type. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border in a single day. F-1 OPT authorization through USCIS typically takes two to three months, so applications need to start well before your intended start date. H-1B processing under standard service runs three to six months after filing, while premium processing with USCIS reduces that to roughly two to three weeks. Green Card timelines through PERM and I-140 run considerably longer.
