Frame your PMP or CAPM credentials strategically
Garver's consulting work spans federally contracted infrastructure projects, where documented credentials carry real weight. Ensure your PMP certification, or progress toward it, is prominent in your application before you approach any sponsorship conversation.
Target Garver's regional office openings deliberately
Garver operates across multiple regional offices with distinct project pipelines in transportation, water, and energy. Roles tied to active regional infrastructure programs tend to move faster through the hiring and sponsorship decision process than generalist postings.
Secure your OPT extension before accepting an offer
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility before your offer letter is signed. Garver's H-1B filings are cap-subject, so your OPT runway needs to bridge you to an October 1 start date if lottery selection falls in your favor.
Understand how LCA prevailing wage applies to your role
Before negotiating compensation, look up DOL prevailing wage data for Project Management Lead roles in your target metro. Garver must certify your offered salary meets that threshold on your Labor Condition Application, so entering that conversation informed prevents avoidable delays.
Ask directly about sponsorship during the first recruiter screen
Garver's recruiting team handles a range of visa types for project leadership roles. Raising sponsorship in your first conversation rather than after an offer is extended saves weeks and avoids situations where internal approval processes slow down or derail a pending hire.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Project Management Leads?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Project Management Lead roles. The H-1B is the most common pathway for professionals in this function, and Garver has an established process for filing petitions through USCIS. Because H-1B is subject to the annual lottery, timing your application cycle and maintaining valid status through OPT or another bridge visa matters significantly.
How do I apply for Project Management Lead jobs at Garver?
You can browse and apply for Project Management Lead positions at Garver directly through their careers portal, or use Migrate Mate to filter Garver's openings by role type and visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect project delivery experience relevant to Garver's consulting disciplines, including transportation, water, or energy infrastructure.
Which visa types does Garver commonly sponsor for Project Management Lead roles?
Garver sponsors a range of visa types for this function, including H-1B, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active degree programs, J-1 visa for qualifying exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term hires. The right pathway depends on your nationality, current status, and career timeline.
What qualifications does Garver expect for a Project Management Lead position?
Garver typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, combined with meaningful experience managing multidisciplinary project teams on consulting or infrastructure engagements. PMP certification strengthens your profile considerably. For senior leads, demonstrated experience with client management, scope control, and scheduling on federally or municipally contracted work is a practical differentiator.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Garver as a Project Management Lead?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B sponsorship tied to the April lottery means an October 1 start date at the earliest, with filing typically in March. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border on the same day. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 involves DOL labor market testing and USCIS processing, which can span one to several years depending on your country of birth.
