Frame your PE licensure strategically
Garver Project Leads are frequently expected to hold or be pursuing Professional Engineer licensure. Before applying, document your foreign engineering credentials and any NCEES exam progress so your application reflects readiness for U.S. licensure requirements.
Target Garver's infrastructure practice areas
Garver organizes hiring around specific service lines like transportation, water, and aviation. Positioning your Project Lead experience against one of these verticals in your resume makes it easier for their recruiters to match you to active openings in their pipeline.
Clarify OPT cap-gap coverage before your start date
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, confirm with Garver's HR team that your offer letter accounts for the H-1B October 1 start date. Cap-gap authorization protects your status, but your employment cannot begin until USCIS receives a valid H-1B petition.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Project Lead openings
Garver posts Project Lead roles across multiple regional offices, and availability shifts by service line. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions by visa sponsorship type so you're applying only to roles where sponsorship has been confirmed for this function.
Request the LCA wage level during offer negotiation
Before countering a salary offer, ask which DOL prevailing wage level Garver intends to file your Labor Condition Application under. Level I and Level II filings carry meaningfully different wage floors, and knowing this lets you negotiate from an accurate baseline.
Prepare a project delivery portfolio for the interview
Garver evaluates Project Leads on demonstrated ability to manage scope, budget, and client relationships on engineering projects. Compiling two or three concrete examples with measurable outcomes strengthens both your candidacy and your employer's case in an H-1B specialty occupation filing.

Find Project Lead at Garver JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Project Leads?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Project Lead roles. As a professional services engineering firm, Project Lead positions typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards given the degree requirements in engineering or a related technical field. Sponsorship availability can vary by office location and active headcount, so confirming sponsorship intent early in the recruiting process is advisable.
How do I apply for Project Lead jobs at Garver?
You can apply directly through Garver's careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters Garver's Project Lead openings by visa sponsorship type so you only see roles where sponsorship is available. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific practice area, such as transportation or water, and note any Professional Engineer licensure or examination progress prominently.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Project Lead roles?
Garver supports several visa categories for Project Leads, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates in authorized training periods. For longer-term employment, Garver has also pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL.
What qualifications does Garver expect for a Project Lead role?
Garver generally expects Project Lead candidates to hold a bachelor's degree or higher in civil, structural, mechanical, or a closely related engineering discipline. Relevant experience managing multidisciplinary project teams on infrastructure or consulting engagements is typically required. Professional Engineer licensure or active pursuit of it is frequently listed as preferred, and this credential also strengthens an H-1B specialty occupation determination.
How do I think about the timing of visa sponsorship when joining Garver as a Project Lead?
If you're relying on H-1B sponsorship, Garver must file your petition before the April 1 cap registration window and you can only begin work on October 1 of that fiscal year. F-1 OPT holders can start earlier if authorized work dates align. For TN status, approval can happen at the port of entry with same-day validity, making the timeline significantly shorter than H-1B.
