Align your credentials to GHD's technical disciplines
GHD hires Project Leads into specific practice areas like water, environment, and transportation. Make sure your resume and credentials clearly map to one of these verticals rather than presenting as a generalist, since GHD's sponsorship decisions are tied to defined specialty occupation requirements.
Target GHD offices in states with active infrastructure pipelines
GHD's Project Lead openings cluster around states with heavy public infrastructure investment. Research which regional offices are actively hiring for your discipline before applying, since sponsorship decisions are often made at the office level rather than centrally.
Pursue PMP or PE licensure before your final interview round
GHD's Project Lead roles frequently list professional credentials like a PMP or Professional Engineer license as requirements, not preferences. Having these before an offer conversation removes a common friction point that delays or complicates sponsorship approval for this role type.
Clarify your visa category early in offer negotiations
GHD sponsors across several pathways including EB-2, EB-3, and TN. If you're on OPT, confirm whether your role qualifies for STEM OPT extension before the offer stage, since a 24-month extension gives GHD more runway before committing to an H-1B or immigrant petition.
Understand the PERM timeline before accepting a Project Lead offer
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, GHD must complete PERM labor certification through DOL before filing an immigrant petition. That process typically runs 12 to 18 months or longer. Factor this into your employment start date and any existing visa status deadlines.
Search open Project Lead roles at GHD on Migrate Mate
GHD lists Project Lead positions across multiple disciplines and regions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for GHD openings that confirm visa sponsorship, so you're not spending interview cycles on roles where sponsorship isn't actually on the table.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does GHD sponsor H-1B visas for Project Leads?
GHD does not appear to be an active H-1B visa sponsor for Project Lead roles based on available disclosure data. Their sponsorship activity for this position concentrates on other pathways, including EB-2, EB-3, TN visa, and support for F-1 OPT and CPT candidates. If H-1B visa is your primary pathway, clarify this directly with GHD's HR team during the offer stage before proceeding.
How do I apply for Project Lead jobs at GHD?
You can browse and apply for Project Lead positions at GHD directly through their careers portal, filtering by discipline and region. Migrate Mate also aggregates GHD's open Project Lead roles and flags which positions include visa sponsorship, which saves you from applying to listings where sponsorship isn't confirmed. Tailor your application to GHD's specific practice areas, such as water, environment, or transportation infrastructure.
Which visa types does GHD commonly use for Project Lead roles?
For Project Lead positions, GHD's sponsorship activity covers EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and work authorization support for F-1 OPT and CPT candidates. Each pathway has different eligibility requirements and timelines, so the right fit depends on your nationality, degree level, and how long you've been in the U.S.
What qualifications does GHD expect for Project Lead candidates seeking sponsorship?
GHD's Project Lead roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, several years of project delivery experience in consulting or infrastructure, and often a professional credential like a PMP or PE license. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field must align with the specialty occupation standard that USCIS applies to the specific role being filled.
How do I plan my timeline if GHD offers EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship for a Project Lead role?
If GHD agrees to sponsor you through the PERM-based EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, expect the process to run in phases: DOL PERM labor certification typically takes 12 to 18 months, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS, and then the Green Card application itself. Your priority date and country of birth both affect how long the final step takes, sometimes significantly. Start this process as early in your employment as possible.
