Frame your credentials around U.S. project delivery standards
STV's Project Lead roles are tied to federally funded infrastructure work, so highlight experience with phased project delivery, scope management, and owner-client coordination. PMI certifications and familiarity with U.S. public sector procurement strengthen your application materially.
Target STV's transportation and infrastructure verticals first
STV's heaviest Project Lead hiring clusters around transit, highway, and water infrastructure programs. Positioning your resume against those verticals, rather than applying broadly, improves your odds of landing in a team that actively uses visa sponsorship for this role.
Clarify your OPT or TN status before your first interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, know your STEM extension eligibility and exact expiration date before speaking with STV recruiters. For Canadian or Mexican nationals, the TN category covers engineers and management consultants, which can align with Project Lead duties depending on how the role is classified.
Ask specifically about H-1B cap-exempt filing options
Some consulting firms route petitions through cap-exempt partners to avoid the lottery. Ask STV's HR or immigration counsel directly whether any affiliated entities qualify, especially if you've already exhausted one lottery cycle and need a path forward for the next fiscal year.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Project Lead roles at STV
STV posts Project Lead positions across multiple business lines simultaneously, and not all are visible on standard job boards. Browse Migrate Mate to filter specifically for STV openings that include visa sponsorship, so you're applying to confirmed sponsorship-eligible roles rather than guessing.
Understand where PERM fits in your long-term plan
STV sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for Project Lead staff, which requires PERM labor certification through DOL. That process takes 12 to 18 months before an I-140 can be filed, so raise the topic during offer negotiations, not after you've already accepted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does STV sponsor H-1B visas for Project Leads?
Yes, STV sponsors H-1B visas for Project Lead roles. Because this is a cap-subject visa, your petition enters the annual USCIS lottery, which runs in March for an October 1 start date. STV's consistent sponsorship activity in consulting and infrastructure means the company is familiar with the H-1B process, but timing your application cycle around the lottery window is critical.
Which visa types does STV commonly use for Project Lead roles?
STV sponsors H-1B, TN visa, J-1 visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT visas for Project Lead positions, along with EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways for longer-term staff. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. F-1 OPT holders in STEM-eligible fields may also qualify for a three-year work authorization extension while an H-1B petition is pending.
What qualifications and experience does STV expect for Project Lead positions?
STV typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field, combined with progressive project delivery experience on infrastructure or public sector programs. PMP certification is valued but not always required. Familiarity with federally funded project oversight, client-facing reporting, and multi-discipline coordination is more consistently prioritized than a specific credential alone.
How do I apply for Project Lead jobs at STV?
You can browse and apply for Project Lead openings at STV through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship so you're not applying blindly. When you apply, tailor your materials to the infrastructure or service vertical the posting covers. STV's Project Lead roles vary by program type, so matching your experience to the specific project environment in the job description improves your callback rate.
How do I time my application to align with STV's sponsorship process?
If you're targeting an H-1B, start your job search in the fall to secure an offer before USCIS opens H-1B registration in early March. STV would need to file your registration within that window for an October 1 start date. For OPT holders, confirm your STEM extension eligibility early so there's no authorization gap while a petition is in process. Building that buffer into your timeline matters more than most candidates expect.
