Align your credentials to WSB's technical standards
WSB's Project Lead roles in consulting typically require a bachelor's degree in engineering, planning, or a related technical discipline. Make sure your degree field maps directly to the role's scope before applying, since specialty occupation classification depends on that match.
Target open roles across WSB's project portfolio
WSB operates across transportation, environmental, and civil infrastructure consulting. Project Lead openings often cluster around active contracts, so filtering by practice area rather than just job title surfaces more relevant postings. Use Migrate Mate to browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility.
Understand how WSB structures its LCA filings
Before your offer stage, verify that the posted salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for the specific worksite location. WSB delivers projects in multiple states, and the prevailing wage level varies by metropolitan area, which affects your compensation floor.
Prepare project management documentation early
For H-1B petitions supporting a Project Lead title, USCIS scrutinizes whether day-to-day duties require a specialized degree. Build a role summary that documents your decision-making authority, technical scope, and direct client deliverables before your employer's attorney begins petition drafting.
Clarify sponsorship timing if you are on OPT
If you are working under F-1 OPT when you receive an offer, confirm whether WSB will file your H-1B petition for the April cap season. The 60-day grace period and OPT end date both affect how much runway you have between offer acceptance and petition filing.
Confirm TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Project Lead roles grounded in civil engineering or urban planning can qualify under TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals. TN does not require a USCIS petition or lottery registration, which shortens the hiring timeline significantly compared to H-1B for eligible candidates.

Find Project Lead at WSB JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WSB sponsor H-1B visas for Project Leads?
Yes, WSB sponsors H-1B visas for Project Lead positions. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation because it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical discipline such as civil engineering or environmental science. Your employer files the Labor Condition Application with DOL and the H-1B petition with USCIS, so the process is employer-driven once you have an offer.
How do I apply for Project Lead jobs at WSB?
Start by searching WSB's careers page directly and filtering for Project Lead or similar titles within your technical discipline. You can also browse verified sponsorship-eligible openings at WSB through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where the company has an active sponsorship track record. Tailor your application to highlight client-facing project delivery experience and any relevant licensure, since WSB's consulting work often involves licensed professionals.
Which visa types does WSB commonly use for Project Lead roles?
WSB sponsors across several visa categories for this role, including H-1B for candidates already in the U.S. on other status, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals working in qualifying engineering or planning disciplines, and J-1 for certain exchange-based arrangements. The right category depends on your citizenship, current status, and the timeline of your offer.
What qualifications does WSB expect for a Project Lead position?
Most Project Lead roles at WSB require a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering, planning, or technical field, along with demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedule, and client relationships. Professional licensure such as a PE or AICP credential is a strong asset and sometimes required depending on the practice area. Candidates without a direct degree match may be able to use equivalent work experience, but this should be addressed upfront during the petition process.
How do I think about timing if I need visa sponsorship for a Project Lead role at WSB?
If you need an H-1B, the cap filing window opens in early April each year, so an offer in late winter gives your employer enough lead time to prepare the petition. TN and OPT extensions have more flexible timing. Build in at least two to three months between offer acceptance and your target start date to allow for LCA certification, petition preparation, and any government processing time.
