Frame Your PMP Around Client Delivery
Consulting firms evaluate Project Leads on client-facing outcomes, not just internal execution. Translate your credentials into billable project wins, stakeholder management, and scope control before your first conversation with a Westwood recruiter.
Verify Your OPT or CPT Eligibility Early
If you're on F-1 status, confirm your OPT authorization period aligns with Westwood's onboarding timeline. Consulting project cycles often start on fixed dates, and a gap between your start date and EAD approval can complicate the offer.
Search Open Project Lead Roles on Migrate Mate
Westwood posts Project Lead openings across multiple practice areas. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Westwood Professional Services roles that list visa sponsorship, so you're targeting live positions rather than cold outreach.
Ask Directly About the H-1B Filing Timeline
If you receive an offer outside the H-1B cap registration window, clarify whether Westwood will file for a cap-exempt position or hold your start date until the next USCIS registration period opens in March. Consulting firms handle this differently.
Align Your Specialty Occupation Documentation
USCIS requires Project Lead roles to qualify as specialty occupations. Prepare documentation showing your position demands a specific bachelor's degree field, not just any business degree, to strengthen the I-129 petition Westwood will file on your behalf.
Anticipate the PERM Timeline for EB-2 or EB-3 Paths
If permanent residency is your goal, Westwood's consulting structure typically supports PERM-based sponsorship for established employees. DOL's PERM process can take 12 to 18 months before the I-140 stage, so raise this conversation after your first performance review, not at offer stage.

Find Project Lead at Westwood Professional Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Westwood Professional Services sponsor H-1B visas for Project Leads?
Yes, Westwood Professional Services sponsors H-1B visas for Project Lead positions. Consulting firms in their space regularly use the H-1B for specialty occupation roles, and Project Lead positions that require a specific degree field generally meet USCIS eligibility criteria. If you're in the H-1B cap lottery cycle, confirm your offer timing with the recruiter, as USCIS registration opens each March for an October 1 start date.
Which visa types does Westwood Professional Services commonly use for Project Lead roles?
Westwood sponsors across several visa categories for Project Lead roles, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and EB-2 or EB-3 for permanent residency pathways. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates entering consulting, while TN is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. H-1B is the primary long-term nonimmigrant path for most international candidates.
What qualifications does Westwood Professional Services expect for Project Lead candidates?
Westwood typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a field directly relevant to their consulting practice area, such as business, engineering, or information systems, along with demonstrated project management experience. For H-1B purposes, the degree must specifically support the role's duties, so a generalist background without clear field alignment can complicate the sponsorship petition. PMP certification or equivalent credentials strengthen both your candidacy and the USCIS specialty occupation argument.
How do I apply for Project Lead jobs at Westwood Professional Services?
Start by browsing current Project Lead openings at Westwood Professional Services on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles with visa sponsorship so you can confirm eligibility before applying. Tailor your resume to highlight structured project delivery, client engagement, and any relevant certifications. Consulting firms in Westwood's space move through screening and interviews in stages, so prepare for both a competency-based interview and a case-style or scenario discussion.
How do I plan my visa timeline when accepting a Project Lead offer at Westwood Professional Services?
The visa type you're on determines your planning window. F-1 OPT authorization requires a USCIS-issued EAD before you can start work, which can take 90 days or more after your program end date. For H-1B transfers from another employer, USCIS allows you to start on the receipt notice under portability rules after 180 days of approved status. Discuss your current status with Westwood's HR team early so the I-129 or EAD application is filed before your authorization lapses.
