Align your credentials to U.S. PE standards
Langan recruits Project Leads who can eventually stamp drawings and carry client relationships independently. If your engineering license is from outside the U.S., research your state board's foreign credential evaluation process before applying so you can speak to your licensure timeline in interviews.
Target Langan's land development and brownfield practices
Project Lead openings at Langan concentrate heavily in site development, geotechnical, and environmental remediation work. Tailoring your resume to show direct experience in those practice areas, rather than broad civil engineering, signals the sector fit their hiring managers screen for first.
Search open Project Lead roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Langan's current Project Lead openings by visa sponsorship type. This saves time identifying which roles are actively open to H-1B or other sponsored candidates rather than cold-applying across the company's full job board.
Understand how TN status applies to your role
Canadian and Mexican nationals in engineering consulting often qualify for TN status, which doesn't require an employer petition with USCIS and can be obtained at the port of entry. Confirm your specific job duties map cleanly to the TN engineer category before your offer letter is finalized.
Request H-1B cap-exempt consideration if applicable
If you've been previously counted against the H-1B cap within the last six years, you may not need to enter the lottery again. Raise this with Langan's HR team early so their immigration counsel can assess cap-exempt eligibility and file outside the April registration window.
Prepare for a PERM timeline when pursuing permanent residency
Project Leads at consulting firms often pursue Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 or EB-3 PERM labor certification process. DOL processing for PERM can run beyond a year, so raise long-term sponsorship expectations during the offer negotiation stage rather than after onboarding.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services sponsor H-1B visas for Project Leads?
Yes, Langan Engineering and Environmental Services sponsors H-1B visas for Project Lead roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file petitions for qualifying technical hires in engineering and environmental consulting. If you're subject to the H-1B lottery, timing your application to align with Langan's annual recruiting cycle, which typically ramps up in late winter ahead of April registration, improves your chances of having a petition filed in the same cap year.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Lead roles at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services?
H-1B is the most common visa category for Project Leads at Langan, given the specialty occupation requirements of engineering and environmental consulting work. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN visa status under the engineer category, which bypasses the lottery. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for early-career hires transitioning from graduate programs, and Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 PERM is available for longer-tenured employees.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Project Lead positions at Langan?
Langan's Project Lead roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering, along with several years of consulting experience managing project deliverables and client relationships. A Professional Engineer license, or active progress toward one, is a strong differentiator. Experience in site development, brownfield remediation, or land use permitting aligns closely with the practice areas where Langan concentrates Project Lead hiring.
How do I apply for Project Lead jobs at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services?
You can browse and apply for Project Lead openings at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services directly through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions where sponsorship is confirmed. When applying, tailor your materials to highlight project management experience, client-facing responsibilities, and any relevant engineering licensure. Langan's hiring process for this level typically includes technical and behavioral interviews with practice group leaders.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Project Lead offer at Langan?
Timeline depends on visa type. H-1B cap-subject petitions require registration in April, with employment starting no earlier than October 1 of that year, so plan for a six-month gap between offer and start date. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border on the same day with the right documentation. PERM labor certification for Green Card sponsorship is a separate, longer process that typically runs 12 to 24 months from initiation, not including USCIS adjudication time after filing.
