Tailor your portfolio to Langan's project mix
Langan's Civil Engineer roles span site development, geotechnical work, and environmental remediation. Highlight project experience in at least one of these areas in your resume and portfolio before applying, so your background maps directly to their active service lines.
Confirm your visa category matches the role
Langan sponsors multiple visa types including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Check whether your current status or target visa aligns with the specific role level they're hiring for, since entry-level positions often suit OPT timelines while senior roles typically require H-1B petition filing.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Civil Engineer roles
Langan posts Civil Engineer openings across multiple U.S. offices simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter active positions by visa sponsorship eligibility and location, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from a generic job board.
Address your PE licensure path in interviews
Consulting firms like Langan expect Civil Engineers to be working toward Professional Engineer licensure. Come prepared to discuss your EIT status, FE exam results, or PE exam eligibility timeline, as this signals long-term commitment and professional trajectory within U.S. engineering practice.
Understand the H-1B cap and your filing window
If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration opens each March for an October 1 start date. Align your offer timeline accordingly and ask Langan's HR team early whether they file with premium processing to reduce approval uncertainty before your OPT or grace period expires.
Get your academic credentials evaluated before the offer stage
If your engineering degree is from outside the U.S., have a NACES-member credential evaluation completed before you receive an offer. Langan's petitions filed with USCIS require documentation that your degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's in civil engineering, and delays here can slow your start date.

Does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Engineers?
Yes, Langan Engineering and Environmental Services sponsors H-1B visas for Civil Engineer roles. As a consulting firm with active hiring across multiple U.S. offices, Langan has an established process for H-1B petitions. You'll want to confirm sponsorship availability for your specific role level and office location during the offer stage, since not every position or region may follow the same timeline.
Which visa types does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services sponsor for Civil Engineer roles?
Langan sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Civil Engineer positions. OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. H-1B and Green Card sponsorship are typically reserved for candidates in longer-term positions.
What qualifications and experience does Langan look for in Civil Engineer candidates?
Langan typically hires Civil Engineers with a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited program. For entry-level roles, strong internship or co-op experience in site development, transportation, or environmental consulting is valued. Mid-level positions generally require several years of relevant U.S. or internationally recognized project experience, plus progress toward Professional Engineer licensure.
How do I apply for Civil Engineer jobs at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services?
You can browse and apply for Civil Engineer openings at Langan through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying. Applications typically require a resume, cover letter, and academic transcripts. If your degree is from outside the U.S., prepare a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved provider before submitting.
How do I time my application if I'm on F-1 OPT and targeting a Civil Engineer role at Langan?
Start your application at least six months before your OPT expiration date. If Langan extends an offer, they'll need time to file an H-1B registration during the March USCIS registration window for an October 1 cap-subject start. STEM OPT extension can bridge a gap of up to 24 months if your degree qualifies, giving you more runway if the H-1B timeline is tight.
