Align Your Credentials to Power Infrastructure
Qualus focuses heavily on electric grid and utility consulting, so tailor your resume to highlight transmission line design, substation engineering, or distribution system work. Generic civil engineering experience is harder to position than project-specific utility background.
Confirm LCA Postings Before Your Interview
For H-1B roles, Qualus must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your petition. Search the DOL FLAG system for Qualus LCA postings by job title to understand prevailing wage levels and where active filings are concentrated geographically.
Clarify OPT and CPT Timelines With Recruiters Early
If you're on F-1 OPT, Qualus supports this authorization but consulting firms often run longer hiring cycles. Confirm your OPT expiration date upfront and ask the recruiter explicitly whether a cap-subject or cap-exempt H-1B petition is the intended next step.
Target Qualus Offices Near Major Utility Projects
Qualus staffs Civil Engineers closest to active client engagements. Researching which regional offices are supporting active transmission or grid hardening projects helps you identify where open roles are most likely to include sponsorship as part of the offer package.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Sponsoring Civil Engineer Roles
Search Migrate Mate to filter Civil Engineer openings at Qualus by visa type, including H-1B and TN. This lets you surface roles where sponsorship is explicitly on the table rather than spending time on positions that require existing work authorization only.
Prepare for PERM Documentation if Targeting Green Card
If Qualus initiates an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card for you, the PERM labor certification process requires the employer to document a formal recruitment effort. Ask HR early whether this process runs concurrently with your H-1B status or only after a set tenure.

Find Civil Engineer at Qualus JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Qualus sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Engineers?
Yes, Qualus sponsors H-1B visas for Civil Engineers. Consulting and professional services firms like Qualus typically initiate H-1B petitions through USCIS for roles that qualify as specialty occupations, which civil engineering consistently meets. If you're already on OPT or another nonimmigrant status, confirm during the offer stage that H-1B sponsorship is included in your employment package before signing.
Which visa types does Qualus commonly use for Civil Engineer roles?
Qualus supports several visa categories for Civil Engineers, including H-1B for degree-qualified candidates, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active programs, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals with engineering credentials, and J-1 for qualifying exchange visitors. For permanent residency, Qualus has initiated EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process with DOL.
What qualifications and experience does Qualus expect for Civil Engineer roles?
Qualus typically looks for Civil Engineers with a bachelor's degree or higher in civil or electrical engineering and hands-on experience in utility infrastructure, power delivery systems, or transmission projects. Familiarity with grid modernization, substation design, or distribution engineering strengthens your candidacy significantly. A Professional Engineer license is an advantage for senior roles, though not universally required for all positions.
How do I apply for Civil Engineer jobs at Qualus?
You can browse and apply for Civil Engineer roles at Qualus through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. When applying, tailor your materials to Qualus's focus on electric utility and infrastructure consulting. Follow up with the recruiter early to confirm your visa category is supported and discuss timelines for sponsorship initiation.
How do I plan my timeline if Qualus is sponsoring my H-1B as a Civil Engineer?
Cap-subject H-1B petitions must be filed with USCIS in April for an October 1 start date, which means your offer and registration need to be in place before the March lottery window. If you're transitioning from OPT, build in enough runway before your authorization expires. For cap-exempt scenarios, such as if Qualus places you at a qualifying research institution, USCIS can process the petition outside the annual lottery cycle.
