Translate field credentials into specialty occupation language
USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations. Frame your electrical engineering or power systems credentials in terms of degree-specific duties, not general fieldwork, so your background maps cleanly to Qualus's engineering scope.
Target Qualus openings tied to utility projects
Qualus staffs Field Engineers heavily around transmission, substation, and grid modernization work. Filtering your search by project type rather than job title alone surfaces roles where sponsorship conversations are more common and the technical fit is clearer.
Confirm OPT or CPT authorization covers field deployment
Field Engineer roles at a consulting firm often involve rotating site assignments. Before accepting an offer on F-1 OPT, verify your authorized employer and worksite details align with USCIS requirements, since multi-site deployments can complicate your authorization record.
Browse verified sponsoring Field Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Finding Qualus openings confirmed for sponsorship saves time you'd otherwise spend screening generic job boards. Search Migrate Mate to filter Field Engineer positions at Qualus by visa type, so you're only pursuing roles where authorization is already on the table.
Raise visa timing early in offer negotiations
H-1B cap-subject filings open in March for an October 1 start. If you're mid-lottery cycle or between statuses, flag your timeline to the Qualus recruiter before signing anything, so the offer structure accounts for your actual availability date.
Understand how TN status fits consulting field roles
Canadian and Mexican engineers may qualify for TN status under the engineer category without waiting for H-1B lottery selection. Confirm with DOL that your specific Field Engineer duties at Qualus fall within the TN engineer definition before pursuing this path.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Qualus sponsor H-1B visas for Field Engineers?
Yes, Qualus has sponsored H-1B visas for engineering roles including Field Engineers. Because H-1B sponsorship requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, your application will need to demonstrate that the position requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific technical discipline, such as electrical engineering or power systems. Discussing your visa situation early in the interview process gives both sides time to plan around H-1B cap timelines.
How do I apply for Field Engineer jobs at Qualus?
You can apply directly through the Qualus careers page or find sponsorship-confirmed Field Engineer openings on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa type so you know authorization is realistic before you apply. When submitting your application, tailor your resume to reflect the technical project scope Qualus handles, including substation, transmission, or grid infrastructure work, rather than generic field engineering experience.
Which visa types are commonly used for Field Engineer roles at Qualus?
Qualus has worked with several visa categories for engineering hires, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, TN visa status for qualifying Canadian and Mexican engineers, and F-1 OPT or CPT for students and recent graduates. For longer-term pathways, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is also part of their track record. The right category depends on your nationality, degree field, and where you are in your career timeline.
What qualifications does Qualus expect for Field Engineer roles?
Qualus typically looks for candidates with a degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field, given that Field Engineers are deployed on power delivery and infrastructure projects. Hands-on experience with substation construction, relay protection, or utility systems strengthens your profile considerably. For visa sponsorship to hold up under USCIS review, your degree field needs to align directly with the technical duties of the role you're being hired into.
How long does the sponsorship and onboarding process take for a Field Engineer offer at Qualus?
Timeline depends heavily on your current status. F-1 OPT can allow you to start relatively quickly if authorization is already in place. H-1B sponsorship tied to the annual cap means an October 1 start at the earliest if you go through the lottery in March. TN status for Canadian citizens can be processed at the port of entry, often within the same day. Building in buffer time and aligning your offer start date with your visa pathway is something to work through with the Qualus HR team before accepting.
