Frame your credentials around U.S. field standards
Qualus operates in power delivery consulting, so certifications like NFPA 70E or NERC reliability credentials carry real weight. Align your resume to U.S. electrical safety and grid standards before you apply, not after you receive an offer.
Target roles tied to utility or substation projects
Field Service Technician openings at Qualus often cluster around substation commissioning and relay testing. Filtering for these project types when you search narrows your focus to positions where your technical background is most directly relevant.
Clarify your OPT or TN status early in conversations
If you're on F-1 OPT or qualify for TN status as a Canadian or Mexican national, disclose this upfront. Both pathways let Qualus bring you on quickly without waiting on USCIS adjudication, which matters for project-driven hiring timelines.
Ask how Qualus structures H-1B sponsorship timelines
H-1B sponsorship for field roles moves differently than for office-based positions. Ask the recruiter whether sponsorship is initiated at offer or after a defined employment period, so your status planning accounts for the actual internal process, not assumptions.
Prepare for PERM documentation well before your H-1B limit
If Qualus sponsors you for an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, the PERM labor certification requires detailed employment records, education verification, and prevailing wage documentation from DOL. Organizing these materials early prevents delays when the process starts.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Field Service Technician roles
Qualus posts Field Service Technician positions across multiple U.S. regions. Use Migrate Mate to browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring picture.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Qualus sponsor H-1B visas for Field Service Technicians?
Yes, Qualus has sponsored H-1B visas for technical roles including Field Service Technicians. Because field roles at Qualus typically require a relevant engineering or technical degree alongside hands-on experience, they generally qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards. Confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter during the interview process, as not every open position includes it.
Which visa types are commonly used for Field Service Technician roles at Qualus?
Qualus has worked with several visa categories for technical hires, including H-1B, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 visa for training-based roles, and EB-2 or EB-3 for candidates pursuing permanent residency. TN visa and F-1 OPT are often faster to activate for project-ready candidates, while H-1B and employment-based Green Cards are more common for long-term sponsorship.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Field Service Technician jobs at Qualus?
Qualus typically looks for candidates with a degree in electrical engineering or a closely related technical field, combined with hands-on experience in substation commissioning, relay protection, or power delivery systems. Familiarity with testing equipment, safety protocols like NFPA 70E, and the ability to travel to project sites are consistently cited expectations. Entry-level candidates on F-1 CPT or OPT may find pathways through internship or early-career tracks.
How do I apply for Field Service Technician jobs at Qualus?
You can find current Field Service Technician openings at Qualus through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm sponsorship is part of the role before applying. When you apply, tailor your resume to highlight relevant field experience and certifications. Be prepared to address your visa status and work authorization timeline during the initial recruiter screening.
How do I plan my timeline if Qualus is sponsoring my H-1B?
H-1B petitions are subject to an annual cap with a registration window that typically opens in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT with a STEM extension, you may have up to 36 months of authorized work time, which can bridge the gap if your first H-1B registration isn't selected. Align your offer and start date conversations with Qualus around these USCIS deadlines to avoid gaps in authorization.
