Align your credentials to U.S. licensure expectations
Qualus consults on infrastructure and power systems where PE licensure often matters. Get your foreign engineering credentials evaluated through NCARB or a NCEES-recognized body before applying, so hiring managers can assess your standing without delays.
Target openings tied to utility or grid projects
Qualus's Structural Engineer roles frequently support transmission, substation, and grid infrastructure work. Tailoring your resume to highlight those project types makes your application immediately relevant to the teams most likely to initiate sponsorship.
Search Qualus's Structural Engineer openings through Migrate Mate
Filter by visa type to surface roles at Qualus that match your authorization status. Migrate Mate aggregates sponsorship-friendly postings so you spend time on applications with a realistic path to H-1B or OPT extension support.
Clarify OPT timing before your first interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, your STEM extension window and H-1B cap-subject deadlines are fixed. Raise your authorization timeline in early conversations so Qualus's HR team can confirm whether the role's start date and sponsorship process align with your status.
Understand that PERM shapes your permanent residency path
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, Qualus must file a PERM labor certification with the DOL before petitioning USCIS. That process typically runs six months to over a year, so starting those conversations at or before your offer stage matters.
Prepare a portfolio that documents structural deliverables
Consulting firms like Qualus evaluate Structural Engineers on their ability to own project deliverables. Organizing work samples around calculations, drawings, and construction support documentation gives interviewers concrete evidence of your technical depth, which strengthens the specialty occupation case for your H-1B petition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Qualus sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Engineers?
Yes, Qualus sponsors H-1B visas for Structural Engineer roles. The H-1B classification fits well here because structural engineering meets USCIS's specialty occupation standard, which requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related engineering field. Because H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing your application cycle correctly with Qualus's hiring process is critical.
How do I apply for Structural Engineer jobs at Qualus?
You can apply directly through Qualus's careers page or find their Structural Engineer postings filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to infrastructure or utility project experience, since that reflects Qualus's core consulting work. Flagging your visa status early in the process helps their HR team assess sponsorship feasibility before advancing you further.
Which visa types are commonly used for Structural Engineer roles at Qualus?
Qualus supports several visa categories for Structural Engineers, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing engineering programs, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa pathways for candidates pursuing permanent residence through employment-based sponsorship.
What qualifications and experience does Qualus expect for Structural Engineer roles?
Qualus typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in structural or civil engineering. For roles tied to power and utility infrastructure, experience with transmission structures, substations, or foundation design is particularly relevant. Professional Engineer licensure, or documented progress toward it, strengthens your candidacy. For H-1B sponsorship purposes, your degree field must directly relate to the structural engineering duties of the specific role.
How do I navigate the sponsorship timeline when pursuing a Structural Engineer offer at Qualus?
For H-1B, USCIS opens the registration window each March for an October 1 start date, so aligning your offer timing with that cycle is important. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, the DOL process can take a year or more before USCIS even receives the petition. Raising sponsorship expectations with Qualus's HR team during the offer stage, rather than after signing, gives both sides enough runway to plan accurately.
