Align Your Credentials with Specialty Occupation Standards
Geosyntec files H-1B petitions under the specialty occupation standard, so your degree must directly tie to structural engineering work. A civil or structural engineering degree is straightforward, but interdisciplinary degrees need supporting documentation showing field-specific coursework.
Target Geosyntec's Environmental Infrastructure Practice Areas
Geosyntec's structural work often intersects with environmental remediation, containment systems, and geotechnical projects. Positioning your resume around those project types, not just traditional building or bridge design, signals fit for the roles they actually hire into.
Clarify TN Eligibility Before Submitting Applications
If you're Canadian or Mexican, the TN visa covers engineers and avoids the H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm your structural engineering degree qualifies under the engineer category with USCIS guidance before accepting an offer, since TN approval happens at the border or port of entry.
Ask About PERM Sponsorship Timelines During Offer Negotiation
Geosyntec sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, but PERM labor certification through DOL typically takes one to two years before an I-140 petition can be filed. Asking about their standard sponsorship timeline during the offer stage helps you plan your visa sequencing realistically.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Active Structural Engineer Openings
Geosyntec posts Structural Engineer roles across multiple offices and practice groups. Use Migrate Mate to filter their open positions by visa sponsorship type so you're applying to roles where your specific status, whether OPT, H-1B, or TN, is already supported.
Document Your OPT or CPT Authorization Before Your Start Date
Geosyntec participates in E-Verify, so any authorization gap between your program end date and work start date creates compliance issues. Confirm your OPT card is in hand and your I-20 reflects the correct employment authorization dates before submitting your onboarding paperwork.

Does Geosyntec Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Engineers?
Yes, Geosyntec Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for Structural Engineers. The company has a consistent track record of supporting foreign national hires in engineering roles across its consulting practices. Sponsorship typically covers both initial cap-subject H-1B filings and extensions, so candidates who need H-1B transfer or renewal support can also engage with their HR and legal teams.
How do I apply for Structural Engineer jobs at Geosyntec Consultants?
You can browse and apply for Structural Engineer roles at Geosyntec Consultants through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying. Geosyntec typically expects a resume, cover letter, and relevant project portfolio or work samples for engineering roles. Tailor your application to highlight project types aligned with their environmental and geotechnical consulting work.
Which visa types does Geosyntec Consultants commonly use for Structural Engineer hires?
Geosyntec Consultants sponsors H-1B visas as the primary nonimmigrant pathway for Structural Engineers. They also support F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and J-1 exchange visitor visas. For longer-term immigration, the company sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL.
What qualifications does Geosyntec Consultants expect for Structural Engineer roles?
Geosyntec typically hires Structural Engineers with a bachelor's or master's degree in civil or structural engineering. Roles on environmental or remediation projects often value experience with containment structures, geotechnical applications, or industrial facility design alongside standard structural analysis. Professional Engineer licensure is a strong differentiator, and familiarity with software tools like SAP2000, RISA, or ETABS is commonly expected at the project engineer level and above.
How do I plan my visa timeline when pursuing a Structural Engineer role at Geosyntec Consultants?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your authorization end date before negotiating a start date, since Geosyntec uses E-Verify and employment cannot begin before USCIS-authorized dates. H-1B cap filings happen once per year with an April 1 start date, so offers made outside that window need bridging through OPT STEM extension if eligible. For Green Card sponsorship, PERM with the DOL typically runs one to two years before an I-140 petition can proceed.
