Align your credentials to U.S. licensure expectations
Jobot's Structural Engineer postings frequently specify PE licensure or EIT status. Before applying, confirm your degree equivalency is documented and that your foreign credentials are evaluated by a NACES-approved agency so hiring managers can assess your qualifications quickly.
Target Jobot roles matching your active visa status
Because Jobot operates as a staffing intermediary, the end client employer ultimately drives sponsorship decisions. Filter your search by roles that explicitly list your current status, whether H-1B transfer, OPT, or TN, to avoid offers that stall at client approval.
Use Migrate Mate to surface sponsorship-confirmed openings
Not every Jobot Structural Engineer listing advertises visa sponsorship clearly. Use Migrate Mate to browse and filter Jobot postings verified for sponsorship eligibility, so you spend time on roles where your visa status is already accounted for.
Clarify cap-gap coverage before your OPT expires
If you're on F-1 OPT and a Jobot role involves H-1B sponsorship, confirm whether the end client will support a cap-gap extension. USCIS cap-gap protection only applies if your H-1B petition is filed before your OPT end date, so timing the offer is critical.
Request the LCA wage level during offer negotiation
Jobot places engineers across varying wage levels, and the DOL-certified Labor Condition Application locks in the offered wage tier before USCIS reviews your petition. Ask for the wage level designation at offer stage so you can verify it reflects your seniority and responsibilities.
Confirm TN eligibility covers your specific engineering scope
TN status covers engineers broadly, but your job duties must align with the USMCA engineer category. If your Jobot role blends structural work with project management or construction oversight, get written confirmation from Jobot that the duties qualify before committing to TN as your pathway.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Engineers?
Yes, Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for Structural Engineers. Because Jobot is a staffing firm, H-1B sponsorship typically involves both Jobot and the end client employer, so sponsorship availability can vary by placement. Confirming sponsorship support early in the process, before advancing to technical interviews, saves time for both sides.
Which visa types are commonly used for Structural Engineer roles at Jobot?
Jobot supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, and TN visas for Structural Engineer placements. H-1B is the most common long-term path for this role. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose duties align with the USMCA engineer classification. F-1 OPT candidates can work while sponsorship is arranged, provided timing aligns with the USCIS filing window.
What qualifications are expected for Structural Engineer roles at Jobot?
Most Jobot Structural Engineer postings require a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, proficiency in software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or RISA, and experience with relevant building codes like AISC or ACI. PE licensure or active EIT status is frequently listed as preferred or required depending on the end client and project scope.
How do I apply for Structural Engineer jobs at Jobot?
You can apply directly through Jobot's website or browse sponsorship-confirmed Structural Engineer openings at Jobot through Migrate Mate, which filters for visa-eligible roles. When applying, clearly indicate your visa status and any licensure credentials upfront. Jobot recruiters typically respond quickly, so having your resume and credential documentation ready speeds up the initial screening.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing H-1B sponsorship through a Jobot placement?
H-1B petitions are subject to an annual cap with a filing window that opens in April for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, count backward from your work authorization end date to determine whether a Jobot offer can be secured and filed in time. Premium processing through USCIS reduces the adjudication window to roughly 15 business days and is worth discussing with Jobot's team if your timeline is tight.
