Align your credentials with PE licensure expectations
Osborn Engineering values licensed engineers, so confirm whether your degree meets EAC/ABET accreditation equivalency before applying. If your foreign credential hasn't been evaluated, get a formal assessment from a NACES-approved agency to avoid delays at the offer stage.
Target project types Osborn actively staffs
Osborn's structural work spans transportation infrastructure, bridges, and commercial buildings. Tailor your resume to highlight experience in those sectors specifically, since hiring managers at consulting firms match candidates to active project pipelines, not generalist profiles.
Search Osborn's open roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Structural Engineer openings at Osborn Engineering by visa type, so you're only applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed rather than assumed. This saves time and removes ambiguity early in your search.
Clarify your OPT or CPT timeline upfront
If you're on F-1 status, confirm with Osborn's HR whether your remaining OPT authorization covers the project onboarding period. STEM OPT extensions give you up to 36 months total, but the employer must be enrolled in E-Verify for the extension to be valid.
Prepare for a technical interview rooted in codes and analysis
Osborn's structural roles require applied knowledge of AASHTO, AISC, and ACI standards. Expect design scenario questions tied to load analysis and connection detailing. Demonstrating code fluency signals you can contribute immediately on client-facing deliverables.
Understand the H-1B filing window relative to your start date
H-1B petitions for cap-subject cases must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. If your offer comes outside that window, work with Osborn's immigration counsel to assess whether a cap-exempt route or TN status applies to your situation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Osborn Engineering sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Engineers?
Yes, Osborn Engineering sponsors H-1B visas for Structural Engineer roles. As a consulting firm staffing licensed engineers on infrastructure and building projects, they have experience working with immigration counsel to file H-1B petitions. If you're cap-subject, timing your application around the April 1 USCIS filing window is essential for an October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Structural Engineer jobs at Osborn Engineering?
You can browse and apply for Structural Engineer positions at Osborn Engineering through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. When you apply, tailor your materials to Osborn's project focus areas, including transportation, bridges, and commercial structures, and be prepared to discuss licensure status and visa timeline in early conversations with their recruiting team.
Which visa types does Osborn Engineering support for Structural Engineer roles?
Osborn Engineering has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visas for engineering roles. For Structural Engineers, H-1B is the most common long-term path. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations. F-1 OPT and CPT are relevant for students or recent graduates entering the workforce before transitioning to another visa category.
What qualifications does Osborn Engineering expect for Structural Engineer roles?
Osborn typically hires Structural Engineers with a bachelor's or master's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or its recognized international equivalent. Progress toward a Professional Engineer license is valued, particularly for roles involving sealed drawings or client-facing deliverables. Proficiency with structural analysis software and familiarity with AASHTO, AISC, or ACI standards strengthens your application considerably.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Structural Engineer at Osborn Engineering?
Timeline depends on visa type. For H-1B, standard USCIS processing runs three to six months after the April filing window, with an October 1 start. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border on the same day with proper documentation. F-1 OPT authorization from your university's DSO typically takes three to five months, so apply early relative to your intended start date.
