Frame your PMP or licensure credentials early
Osborn Engineering prioritizes project delivery credentials in their consulting practice. If you hold a PMP certification or are working toward PE licensure, lead with these in your resume and cover letter before immigration status comes up.
Target open roles across multiple Osborn offices
Osborn operates regional offices with distinct project pipelines in transportation, structural, and civil work. A Project Manager opening in one office may move faster than another, so apply broadly rather than focusing on a single location.
Confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B positions to meet the specialty occupation standard. For Project Manager roles, ensure your job duties center on technical engineering work requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not generalist management tasks.
Align your OPT start date with Osborn's hiring cycle
F-1 OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization, extendable to 36 months on STEM OPT. If your OPT start date and Osborn's onboarding timeline don't align, you risk a gap. Coordinate with your DSO before accepting any offer.
Ask specifically about LCA filing during offer negotiations
Before your H-1B petition can be filed, your employer must certify a Labor Condition Application with the DOL. Ask Osborn's HR team which external counsel handles this and confirm the LCA timeline fits within your current status period.
Search Osborn Project Manager openings on Migrate Mate
Visa-friendly job boards save time when you're targeting sponsoring employers. Use Migrate Mate to filter Project Manager roles at Osborn Engineering by visa type so you're only reviewing positions where your authorization is already supported.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Osborn Engineering sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Osborn Engineering has sponsored H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. Because these positions typically require a technical degree in civil, structural, or related engineering disciplines, they generally meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard. You'll want to confirm with the hiring team that the specific role you're applying for is scoped for H-1B sponsorship before advancing through the interview process.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Osborn Engineering?
You can browse and apply for Project Manager openings at Osborn Engineering directly through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight technical project delivery experience relevant to Osborn's core service lines, including transportation, structural engineering, or building infrastructure. Confirm sponsorship availability early in the recruiter screening call.
Which visa types does Osborn Engineering support for Project Manager positions?
Osborn Engineering has supported H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas for candidates in this function. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates. Each visa type has different employer obligations, so discuss which pathway applies to your situation during the offer stage.
What qualifications does Osborn Engineering expect for Project Manager roles?
Osborn typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, mechanical, or a related engineering field, along with demonstrated experience managing technical project scopes, schedules, and client relationships. PMP certification and progress toward professional engineering licensure are viewed favorably. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field must align closely with the role's core technical responsibilities to satisfy USCIS requirements.
How do I time my application if my work authorization is expiring soon?
Timing matters significantly when your OPT or current H-1B period is ending. F-1 students on STEM OPT should confirm their extension is approved before a start date is set. For H-1B transfers, USCIS portability rules allow you to start with a new employer once a transfer petition is filed, without waiting for approval. Plan for at least 60 to 90 days of lead time between your offer and intended start date.
