Frame your PE licensure timeline early
Geosyntec values engineers on a path to Professional Engineer licensure. Before applying, document your EIT status and accumulated hours so hiring managers see you've mapped out your PE timeline, which signals commitment to long-term U.S. practice.
Target offices near major infrastructure project clusters
Geosyntec staffs Structural Project Engineers regionally based on active project pipelines. Research which offices are tied to active DOT, dam safety, or remediation contracts, since those locations are most likely to have immediate sponsorship-eligible openings.
Align your degree field to specialty occupation documentation
For H-1B eligibility, USCIS must classify Structural Project Engineer as a specialty occupation. A degree in civil or structural engineering maps cleanly. If your degree is in a related field, prepare an evaluation from a NACES-accredited credential evaluator before the offer stage.
Ask about LCA prevailing wage level during offer negotiation
Geosyntec files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your H-1B petition. The LCA locks in a prevailing wage level tied to your job duties and location. Confirm during negotiation that your offered salary meets or exceeds the DOL wage Level I or II for your metro area.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Structural Project Engineer openings by visa type
Not every Geosyntec posting advertises sponsorship availability upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter Structural Project Engineer roles by the specific visa categories they support, so you spend time only on positions where your status is already a fit.
Prepare a portfolio showing structural analysis deliverables
Geosyntec's consulting model requires engineers who can produce defensible structural calculations and reports for regulatory and litigation contexts. Bring work samples that show finite element analysis, load calculations, or forensic assessment work, since this directly supports the specialty occupation argument in your petition.

Does Geosyntec Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Project Engineers?
Yes, Geosyntec Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for Structural Project Engineers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering. Geosyntec files the required Labor Condition Application with DOL and handles the I-129 petition, though the H-1B cap and annual lottery apply unless you're cap-exempt through a qualifying institution.
How do I apply for Structural Project Engineer jobs at Geosyntec Consultants?
You can find and apply for Structural Project Engineer roles at Geosyntec through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship eligibility. Tailor your application to highlight structural analysis experience relevant to consulting contexts, such as infrastructure assessments, forensic engineering, or remediation support, since Geosyntec hires for project-specific technical depth rather than generalist backgrounds.
Which visa types does Geosyntec Consultants commonly use for Structural Project Engineers?
Geosyntec sponsors several visa categories for Structural Project Engineers, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM. The right category depends on your nationality, educational background, and where you are in your career. TN is often the fastest path for Canadian nationals with a qualifying engineering degree.
What qualifications does Geosyntec look for in Structural Project Engineers?
Geosyntec typically expects a bachelor's or master's degree in civil or structural engineering, with coursework or experience in structural analysis, materials behavior, or geotechnical-structural interfaces. EIT certification and progress toward a PE license are strong signals. For mid-level roles, project management experience on consulting engagements, particularly in regulated industries like environmental remediation or transportation, is often weighted heavily.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Structural Project Engineer at Geosyntec?
Timeline depends on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization through USCIS takes 3 to 5 months from application, so plan ahead if your graduation is approaching. H-1B standard processing runs 3 to 6 months after the April lottery; premium processing reduces adjudication to 15 business days once USCIS accepts the petition. TN status for Canadian nationals can be granted at the port of entry on the same day with correct documentation in hand.
