Verify your PE license transfers across states
Many Jobot structural roles require a Professional Engineer license in the state where the project is located. Confirm your foreign credentials have been evaluated and that you understand comity or reciprocity timelines before your first interview.
Target Jobot's infrastructure and consulting postings
Jobot recruits for clients in civil infrastructure, building design, and specialty consulting. Structural Project Engineer roles placed through these verticals are more likely to involve direct hire arrangements, which gives the sponsoring employer stronger standing to file an H-1B petition.
Flag your OPT status early with the recruiter
Jobot recruiters screen candidates for timeline fit on behalf of their clients. If you're on F-1 OPT, tell your recruiter your exact end date upfront so they can match you with clients whose project timelines and H-1B cap-subject filing windows align before your status expires.
Confirm who acts as the H-1B petitioner
Because Jobot is a staffing firm, the end client may be the actual H-1B petitioner rather than Jobot itself. Ask your recruiter which entity will file Form I-129 with USCIS, since this affects your day-to-day worksite address and any future employer changes.
Use Migrate Mate to track open structural roles
Jobot posts Structural Project Engineer openings across multiple states simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter and monitor these postings by sponsorship type so you're applying to the listings most relevant to your visa situation without manually sorting through non-sponsoring positions.
Prepare a DOL-ready resume before submitting
For H-1B specialty occupation determinations, USCIS scrutinizes whether a Structural Project Engineer role requires a directly related degree. Structure your resume to show your engineering degree field and project experience clearly, so the prevailing wage and specialty occupation case holds up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Project Engineers?
Yes, Jobot sponsors H-1B visas for Structural Project Engineer roles, though the filing entity may be Jobot or the end client depending on the placement structure. Structural engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines, which supports the H-1B petition. Confirm with your recruiter which party will submit Form I-129 and whether the position is direct hire or contract.
How do I apply for Structural Project Engineer jobs at Jobot?
You can apply directly through Jobot's website or through Migrate Mate, which filters Jobot's postings by visa sponsorship type so you can focus on roles that match your work authorization. When you apply, be upfront about your visa status and timeline in your first message to the recruiter. Jobot recruiters move quickly, so responding to outreach promptly improves your chances of being submitted to the client.
Which visa types are commonly used for Structural Project Engineer roles at Jobot?
The H-1B is the most common visa for Structural Project Engineers at Jobot given the role's specialty occupation status. F-1 OPT is also supported, particularly for recent graduates in civil or structural engineering programs. TN visa eligibility may apply for Canadian or Mexican engineers whose credentials meet the NAFTA-defined engineer category requirements under the USMCA.
What qualifications are expected for Structural Project Engineer roles at Jobot?
Most Jobot placements for this role require a bachelor's degree or higher in civil or structural engineering. Many client postings also require or prefer a Professional Engineer license, particularly for roles involving stamped drawings or project sign-off. Project experience in load analysis, AISC or ACI standards, and software such as RISA, SAP2000, or Revit Structure frequently appears in Jobot's active listings.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap filing window?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registrations in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, your application and offer need to be in place by February or early March so your employer can register in time. If you miss the lottery, cap-exempt placements or a TN visa, if you're eligible, can serve as interim options while you wait for the next filing cycle.
