JOB DETAILS
A growing food manufacturing company in the Marystown, Minnesota area is seeking an experienced Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager to lead and strengthen its food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance programs. This is a key leadership opportunity for a food safety professional who enjoys working closely with production and operations teams and has a strong understanding of HACCP, SQF, PCQI, food microbiology, auditing, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be both strategic and hands-on, with the ability to take ownership of food safety programs while helping foster a strong culture of quality and accountability throughout the organization.
- Lead and manage food safety and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and international regulations.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve HACCP, SQF, and other food safety and quality programs.
- Oversee the HACCP program, including identification, evaluation, and control of food safety hazards.
- Conduct food safety and quality risk assessments and develop preventive measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Lead internal audits, inspections, and food safety assessments.
- Identify potential risks and ensure corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented.
- Partner closely with production and operations teams to integrate food safety and quality standards throughout manufacturing processes.
- Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to employees regarding food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate customer complaints and food quality or safety issues, determine root causes, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to food safety, quality assurance, audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Stay current on regulatory changes, industry trends, and emerging food safety practices.
- Update policies, procedures, and programs as needed to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability surrounding food safety and quality.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Food Processing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of food safety and quality assurance experience within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, SQF, PCQI, and food safety management systems.
- HACCP certification required.
- PCQI certification required.
- SQF Practitioner certification preferred.
- Proven experience managing food safety and quality assurance programs.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Strong understanding of food microbiology and its application within food manufacturing.
