Align your resume to process keywords
Jobot recruiters search their ATS for terms like Lean, Six Sigma, AutoCAD, and GD&T. If your resume buries these under generic language, you'll be filtered out before a recruiter ever reads your sponsorship situation.
Target clients in regulated manufacturing sectors
Jobot staffing clients in aerospace, medical devices, and defense are accustomed to sponsorship requirements due to the specialized talent pool. Asking your Jobot recruiter to focus your search there increases the likelihood of reaching an end client open to H-1B filing.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Jobot openings by visa type
Jobot posts a high volume of Manufacturing Engineer roles across dozens of states. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for positions where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're not wasting outreach on listings that exclude international candidates.
Clarify the staffing versus direct-hire distinction early
As a staffing firm, Jobot sometimes places candidates on a contract-to-hire basis. For H-1B purposes, the petitioning employer matters. Confirm with your recruiter upfront whether Jobot or the end client would be the H-1B sponsor before you invest time in the process.
File your LCA before the offer letter deadline
USCIS requires a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL before an H-1B petition can be submitted. The DOL typically processes LCAs within seven business days, but delays happen. Push your recruiter to initiate this immediately after an offer is extended, not after you've accepted.
Document your OPT STEM extension eligibility proactively
If you're on F-1 OPT, manufacturing roles often qualify for the 24-month STEM extension if the end client is E-Verify enrolled. Confirm E-Verify status with Jobot's compliance team before your initial OPT expires so you preserve your full work authorization window through the next H-1B lottery.

TN visa holders who are Canadian or Mexican nationals with qualifying engineering degrees may also be eligible for certain roles.
What qualifications and experience does Jobot expect for Manufacturing Engineer roles?
Most Manufacturing Engineer positions Jobot recruits for require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering. Practical experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, CAD software, and process improvement methodologies strengthens your profile significantly. Some roles, particularly in aerospace or medical devices, require familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 13485 standards. Relevant industry certifications can compensate for limited years of experience.

How do I time my H-1B application when working with a staffing firm like Jobot?
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March each year for an October 1 start date, so you need an offer and a registered employer by late February at the latest. If Jobot is sponsoring you, they must file your USCIS registration during that window. If you're on OPT expiring before October 1, confirm whether a cap-gap provision applies to keep you authorized through the transition.
