Align your resume to Jobot's placement model
Jobot recruits for client companies, not internal roles. Tailor your resume to highlight specific engineering disciplines and tech stacks so recruiters can match you to client openings that already have sponsorship budgets approved.
Clarify the sponsoring entity before accepting
In staffing arrangements, the visa petitioner is typically the staffing firm, not the end client. Confirm with your Jobot recruiter whether Jobot or the client company will be named as your H-1B employer on the I-129 petition before you sign an offer.
Prepare a specialty occupation justification for your role
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions from staffing firms more closely for specialty occupation eligibility. Document the specific engineering degree requirements tied to your role, not just the job title, to strengthen the petition before it's filed.
Target Jobot placements in industries with sponsorship history
Jobot fills Engineering roles across sectors including technology, manufacturing, and infrastructure. Focus your outreach on recruiters covering those verticals, since end clients in those industries are more likely to have established sponsorship processes and approved budgets.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Engineering openings by visa type
Browsing Jobot's full Engineering listings manually won't tell you which roles include sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for H-1B, F-1 OPT, or TN-eligible positions at Jobot so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Account for OPT cap-gap timing if you're on F-1
If your OPT expires before an H-1B approval, the cap-gap provision covers you only if your employer filed before April 1 and USCIS received the petition on time. Confirm your Jobot recruiter understands your OPT end date early so filing deadlines aren't missed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for Engineering roles. Because Jobot operates as a staffing firm, sponsorship depends on whether the specific placement has an end client willing to support it. Ask your recruiter directly whether the role includes H-1B sponsorship before progressing through interviews, since not every open position will qualify.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Jobot?
You can apply directly through Jobot's website or reach out to a Jobot recruiter specializing in Engineering placements. The process typically starts with a recruiter screening call to assess your technical background and visa situation before matching you to client openings. Use Migrate Mate to browse Jobot's Engineering roles filtered by visa sponsorship type to identify the right opportunities before applying.
Which visa types does Jobot commonly use for Engineering roles?
Jobot has supported Engineering placements under H-1B, F-1 OPT, and TN visas. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying engineering occupations under the USMCA. F-1 OPT candidates should confirm their remaining work authorization window aligns with the placement timeline, especially if an H-1B transfer or cap filing is needed later.
What qualifications or experience does Jobot expect for Engineering roles?
Requirements vary by end client, but most Engineering placements through Jobot require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline. For H-1B eligibility, USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning the degree field must be directly tied to the job duties, not just tangentially related. Hands-on experience with specific tools, platforms, or systems will strengthen your profile significantly.
How do I manage visa timing when placed through a staffing firm like Jobot?
Staffing placements can complicate visa timelines because the end client assignment may change before or after your petition is filed. For H-1B transfers or new cap filings, USCIS requires an active employer-employee relationship, so gaps between placements need to be addressed quickly. Work closely with your Jobot recruiter and the firm's immigration team to avoid unauthorized gaps in work authorization.
