Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
H-1B approval for Manufacturing Engineers hinges on demonstrating a theoretical and practical application of engineering knowledge. A degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering strengthens your petition far more than a general STEM background.
Target Generac's product-focused engineering openings
Generac hires Manufacturing Engineers closest to their power generation and energy storage product lines, where process ownership is clearly defined. Roles tied to specific product launches or capital equipment often come with stronger justification for sponsorship than general support functions.
Ask about sponsorship before the final interview stage
Raise the H-1B question during your recruiter screen, not after an offer. Generac's HR teams handle sponsorship at the business unit level, so confirming early prevents wasted rounds with a hiring manager who lacks authority to approve it.
Search Generac's open roles on Migrate Mate
Filter by Manufacturing Engineer roles at Generac Power Systems on Migrate Mate to surface positions where sponsorship has been confirmed. This saves time you'd otherwise spend applying to roles that won't support a visa petition.
Prepare for DOL's prevailing wage requirements upfront
Your offer must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your job zone and geographic location. Manufacturing Engineer roles in Wisconsin fall under specific wage levels, so understand the wage tier your experience places you in before negotiating compensation.
Understand how PERM timing affects your Green Card path
If Generac sponsors you for EB-2 or EB-3, the PERM labor certification process begins after your H-1B is approved. Filing timelines can stretch well beyond a year, so factor this into your long-term planning before accepting an offer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Generac Power Systems sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing Engineers?
Yes, Generac Power Systems sponsors H-1B visas for Manufacturing Engineers. The company operates across product development and production operations where specialized engineering roles meet the USCIS specialty occupation standard. Sponsorship decisions are made at the business unit level, so confirming with the recruiter early in the process is the most reliable way to verify availability for a specific role.
Which visa types does Generac Power Systems commonly use for Manufacturing Engineer roles?
Generac sponsors Manufacturing Engineers on H-1B visas for initial work authorization. For longer-term pathways, the company has filed EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card petitions for engineering talent. The EB-3 category is commonly used for Manufacturing Engineers with bachelor's degrees, while EB-2 applies to roles requiring advanced degrees or exceptional expertise in specialized areas like automation or process engineering.
What qualifications does Generac Power Systems expect for Manufacturing Engineer roles?
Generac typically looks for a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering. Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing, process improvement methodologies like Six Sigma, and familiarity with capital equipment validation are commonly emphasized. For senior roles, experience in power generation equipment, electromechanical assembly, or NPI processes significantly strengthens your profile against other candidates.
How do I apply for Manufacturing Engineer jobs at Generac Power Systems?
You can browse current Manufacturing Engineer openings at Generac Power Systems on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where visa sponsorship has been confirmed. Apply directly through Generac's careers portal with a resume tailored to the specific product line or manufacturing function listed in the job description. Referencing relevant process improvement projects or equipment qualifications in your application increases your chances of reaching the recruiter screen.
How do I plan my timeline if Generac Power Systems is sponsoring my H-1B?
H-1B petitions for cap-subject candidates must be filed in April for an October 1 start date, following the annual lottery in March. If you're already on OPT or another visa status, confirm your authorization end date against this timeline. Premium processing through USCIS reduces the adjudication window to 15 business days, which Generac may elect to use if your start date is time-sensitive.
