Frame your credentials around power systems domains
Generac's Systems Engineer roles span generator controls, energy storage, and grid-tied inverter platforms. Tailor your resume to highlight embedded systems, power electronics, or validation experience so your background maps directly to their product lines.
Target roles with hardware-software integration scope
Systems Engineer postings at Generac that involve hardware-software co-design or requirements management are the ones most likely to support H-1B sponsorship. These roles sit at the intersection of electrical and software engineering, where specialty occupation status is well-established under USCIS criteria.
Raise visa sponsorship before the offer stage
Generac's recruiting team handles sponsorship decisions internally, so clarify your visa needs during the hiring manager conversation, not after you receive an offer. Waiting until the offer creates delays in Labor Condition Application filing and can shift your start date.
Understand how PERM fits your long-term path
Generac sponsors both H-1B and employment-based Green Cards. If you're in an H-1B role and your employer initiates PERM through DOL, the process typically takes one to two years before an I-140 petition can be filed, so start that conversation early in your tenure.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your first day
As a federal contractor and large manufacturer, Generac participates in E-Verify. Ensure your Form I-9 documentation is complete and that your work authorization is current before onboarding, since any discrepancy will be flagged immediately through the E-Verify system.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Systems Engineer roles
Generac posts Systems Engineer openings across multiple sites and divisions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at Generac that include visa sponsorship, so you're only applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed and not guessing from a generic job listing.

Find Systems Engineer at Generac Power Systems JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Generac Power Systems sponsor H-1B visas for Systems Engineers?
Yes, Generac Power Systems sponsors H-1B visas for Systems Engineer roles. Systems Engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria because the position typically requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field. Generac has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions for engineering talent across its product development and validation teams.
How do I apply for Systems Engineer jobs at Generac Power Systems?
Applications go through Generac's careers portal, where Systems Engineer roles are posted by division and location. You can also browse open positions filtered by visa sponsorship availability on Migrate Mate, which surfaces Generac listings where sponsorship has been confirmed. Tailor your application to reflect Generac's product domains, particularly power generation hardware, energy storage, or controls software, since generic engineering resumes screen out early.
Which visa types does Generac Power Systems commonly use for Systems Engineers?
Generac sponsors both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa categories for Systems Engineers. The H-1B is the primary nonimmigrant route for initial employment authorization. For longer-term permanent residency, Generac also supports EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card sponsorship, which requires a PERM labor certification filed with DOL before the immigrant petition can proceed through USCIS.
What qualifications does Generac expect from Systems Engineer candidates?
Generac's Systems Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline. Practical experience with requirements management tools, hardware-software integration, or product validation in a manufacturing environment strengthens your candidacy significantly. Roles tied to energy storage or grid-connected products often expect familiarity with power electronics or embedded control systems as well.
How do I know if I apply for a Systems Engineer role at Generac during an H-1B cap year?
The H-1B cap opens in April each year, with USCIS conducting a lottery if registrations exceed available slots. If you're targeting Generac and are subject to the cap, you'd want an offer in place by late February or early March so your employer can submit your lottery registration in time. Cap-exempt applicants, such as those transferring from a cap-exempt institution, can file any time of year.
