Frame your credentials around technical sales
Generac sells complex power generation equipment to contractors, utilities, and distributors. Highlighting hands-on experience with industrial or electrical products in your resume positions you as a candidate who can sell the product, not just the pitch.
Target regional and channel sales openings
Generac's Sales org is built around dealer networks and regional territories. Roles like Channel Sales Manager or Territory Sales Representative align with their go-to-market model and are the positions most likely to generate a sponsorship conversation.
Clarify your visa timeline before the final interview
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, so if you're on OPT, confirm how much runway you have. Being specific about your authorization timeline helps Generac's HR team plan the filing without last-minute pressure.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsored Sales roles
Generac posts Sales openings across multiple channels, but not all listings signal sponsorship readiness. Migrate Mate filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers in manufacturing, so you can confirm Generac's current openings before applying.
Ask about the LCA filing scope during the offer stage
Because Generac Sales roles are often tied to specific territories, the Department of Labor Labor Condition Application will reflect your worksite location. Confirm with HR whether your territory's prevailing wage aligns with the offered salary before USCIS filing begins.
Align your degree field to the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations. For Sales positions in manufacturing, a degree in business, engineering, or a technical field relevant to power systems strengthens the petition and reduces the risk of a Request for Evidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Generac Power Systems sponsor H-1B visas for Sales roles?
Yes, Generac Power Systems has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Sales positions. The company operates in a technical manufacturing space where Sales roles often meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires. If you're in active conversations with Generac, confirm sponsorship intent early in the process rather than waiting until the offer stage.
How do I apply for Sales jobs at Generac Power Systems?
Apply directly through Generac's careers page, or browse their current Sales openings on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect experience with technical or industrial products and channel or territory-based sales models, which align with how Generac's Sales org is structured.
Which visa types does Generac Power Systems commonly use for Sales roles?
Generac sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based Green Cards, including EB-2 and EB-3 categories, for qualifying Sales professionals. H-1B is the most common starting point for candidates already in the U.S. on OPT or another work-authorized status. Green Card sponsorship typically follows after a period of employment and involves a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL.
What qualifications does Generac Power Systems expect for sponsored Sales roles?
Generac generally looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline alongside demonstrated B2B or channel sales experience. Background in power generation, electrical systems, or industrial equipment is a strong differentiator. For H-1B purposes, your degree field should connect clearly to the Sales role's core duties to satisfy the specialty occupation requirement.
How do I time my application given H-1B filing deadlines?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, so if you're on OPT, you need a job offer in hand by late March at the latest. If your OPT expires before October, your employer may need to file for a cap-gap extension to cover the gap. Starting your job search at Generac six to nine months before your current authorization expires gives you the best chance of a clean transition.
