Align your credentials to Generac's manufacturing focus
Generac builds power generation and energy storage equipment, so tailor your resume to emphasize experience with electromechanical systems, production processes, or quality engineering. A degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering strengthens your specialty occupation case significantly.
Target roles requiring field-specific degree alignment
H-1B eligibility in Manufacturing depends on the role qualifying as a specialty occupation. Positions like process engineer or quality systems manager carry clearer degree-field connections than general production supervisor titles, so prioritize applying to roles where that link is explicit.
Search Generac's open Manufacturing roles on Migrate Mate
Filter by visa sponsorship and Manufacturing function on Migrate Mate to surface Generac's active openings that align with your background. Applying through a targeted list saves time and ensures you're focused on roles where sponsorship is already on the table.
Clarify sponsorship scope before accepting an offer
Ask the recruiter directly whether the offer includes H-1B filing only or also covers PERM labor certification for a Green Card. Generac has sponsored both, and knowing the full scope before you sign helps you plan your long-term immigration timeline accurately.
Prepare documentation for PERM's prevailing wage requirements
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, DOL requires your employer to document that your offered wage meets or exceeds the prevailing wage for your Manufacturing role and location. Gather employment verification letters, pay stubs, and degree transcripts before the process starts.
Account for H-1B cap timing in your job search
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you receive a Generac offer in summer, your earliest possible start may be the following fiscal year unless you're already in H-1B status or qualify for a cap-exempt transfer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Generac Power Systems sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing roles?
Yes, Generac Power Systems sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Manufacturing positions. Roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, typically those requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field like mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, are the strongest candidates for sponsorship. Confirm sponsorship intent with the recruiter early in the process.
How do I apply for Manufacturing jobs at Generac Power Systems?
You can browse and apply for Manufacturing roles at Generac through the company's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers. When applying, highlight relevant technical experience in power systems, production engineering, or quality management, and address sponsorship needs directly in your cover communication to avoid delays later.
Which visa types does Generac Power Systems commonly use for Manufacturing professionals?
Generac has sponsored both nonimmigrant and immigrant visas for Manufacturing roles. The H-1B is the most common path for initial employment authorization, covering specialty occupation positions. For longer-term employees, Generac has also pursued PERM-based permanent residence through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories, which require a DOL labor certification before USCIS adjudicates the petition.
What qualifications does Generac look for in Manufacturing candidates seeking sponsorship?
Generac's Manufacturing roles typically require a degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering, along with hands-on experience in production environments, quality systems, or electromechanical assembly. Familiarity with power generation equipment, lean manufacturing principles, or ERP systems strengthens your profile. The degree-to-role alignment also matters for H-1B specialty occupation eligibility, so a directly relevant credential is important.
How do I think about timing the visa process when targeting Generac Manufacturing roles?
If you need an initial H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start, so a spring or early summer offer from Generac aligns well. If you're transferring from an existing H-1B, Generac can file a cap-exempt petition and your start date is more flexible. PERM for Green Card sponsorship typically takes 18 to 36 months from initiation, depending on DOL processing and your priority date.
