Align your credentials to U.S. licensure expectations
Langan hires Geotechnical Engineers across multiple seniority levels and values progression toward PE licensure. Before applying, confirm your foreign degree equivalency and identify which U.S. state board requirements apply to your target office location.
Target Langan offices in high-infrastructure markets
Langan's geotechnical work concentrates in dense urban markets like New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. Applications tied to a specific regional office where active infrastructure or development projects are underway tend to progress faster through the hiring pipeline.
Start OPT paperwork well before your program ends
If you're on F-1 status, file your OPT application with USCIS at least 90 days before your program end date. Langan does hire through OPT and CPT, so arriving at interviews with your EAD timeline clearly mapped removes a common employer hesitation.
Understand how Langan structures H-1B sponsorship decisions
For H-1B candidates, Langan typically files through the annual cap lottery in April for an October 1 start. If you're interviewing in late summer or fall, clarify whether your offer is contingent on lottery selection or whether a cap-exempt pathway applies to your situation.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Geotechnical Engineer openings
Langan posts roles across multiple locations and experience levels but not always on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Geotechnical Engineer positions at Langan that explicitly flag visa sponsorship, so you're applying to openings where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Prepare your PERM documentation early for Green Card pathways
Langan sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for engineers who demonstrate strong performance over time. The PERM labor certification process through DOL can take a year or more, so align your career conversations with your manager well before your nonimmigrant status requires an extension.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services sponsor H-1B visas for Geotechnical Engineers?
Yes, Langan Engineering and Environmental Services sponsors H-1B visas for Geotechnical Engineers. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery, with petitions filed in April for an October 1 start date. If you're already on a valid H-1B with another employer, Langan can file an H-1B transfer, which doesn't require lottery entry and can begin sooner.
How do I apply for Geotechnical Engineer jobs at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services?
You can browse open Geotechnical Engineer positions at Langan directly through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect the specific project types Langan handles, such as deep foundation systems, slope stability, and subsurface investigations, and identify the regional office that aligns with your target location.
Which visa types does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services commonly use for Geotechnical Engineer roles?
Langan sponsors several visa types for Geotechnical Engineers, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), J-1 visa, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for permanent residency. The right pathway depends on your citizenship, education level, and where you are in your career. TN visas are particularly streamlined for engineers who qualify under USMCA.
What qualifications does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services expect for Geotechnical Engineer positions?
Langan typically expects a bachelor's or master's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering for entry to mid-level roles, with coursework or project experience in soil mechanics, foundation design, or site characterization. Familiarity with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS or gINT is commonly referenced in job postings. Progress toward an EIT certification or PE licensure is valued for candidates beyond entry level.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when accepting a Geotechnical Engineer offer at Langan?
Timeline depends on your visa type. An H-1B cap-subject petition filed in April won't take effect until October 1, creating a potential six-month gap from offer to start date. OPT transfers can move faster if your EAD is already approved. TN status for eligible citizens can be granted at the border with minimal lead time. For Green Card sponsorship via PERM, expect a multi-year process beginning after you're hired.
