Align your credentials to water infrastructure
Carollo focuses almost exclusively on water and wastewater systems. Highlight coursework, project experience, or a PE license tied to hydraulics, treatment design, or conveyance. A generalist civil resume won't stand out the way a water-focused one will.
Target offices in states with active projects
Carollo's hiring for Civil Engineers tends to cluster around regions with major municipal water contracts. Research which state offices are posting roles and prioritize applications there, since sponsorship decisions are made at the project and office level.
Prepare your academic equivalency documentation early
If your civil engineering degree is from outside the U.S., USCIS requires a credential evaluation for H-1B specialty occupation filings. Order a NACES-member evaluation before you receive an offer so it doesn't slow down your I-129 petition timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Carollo posts Civil Engineer roles across multiple office locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter positions by the visa sponsorship type you need so you're only applying to openings where your work authorization pathway is already supported.
Understand PERM timing if you're targeting a Green Card
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, Carollo would need to complete DOL's PERM labor certification before filing an immigrant petition. This process takes well over a year, so raise the topic during offer negotiations, not after you've already started.

Does Carollo Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Engineers?
Yes, Carollo Engineers sponsors H-1B visas for Civil Engineer roles. The position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines given the degree requirements in civil or environmental engineering. Sponsorship is initiated after an offer is extended, and Carollo works with immigration counsel to prepare the I-129 petition. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, timing around the April lottery window will affect your start date.
How do I apply for Civil Engineer jobs at Carollo Engineers?
Applications go through Carollo's careers portal, where roles are listed by office location and discipline. Tailor your resume to water and wastewater infrastructure experience, since that's the core of Carollo's practice. You can also browse and filter current Civil Engineer openings at Carollo by visa type on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify roles where your specific sponsorship pathway is supported before you apply.
Which visa types does Carollo Engineers commonly sponsor for Civil Engineer roles?
Carollo sponsors a range of visa categories for Civil Engineers, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for current students. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Carollo has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process. The right pathway depends on your nationality, education, and how far along you are in your career.
What qualifications does Carollo Engineers expect for Civil Engineer roles?
Most Civil Engineer positions at Carollo require a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering at minimum, with many mid-level and senior roles expecting a Professional Engineer license or active pursuit of one. Practical experience in water or wastewater infrastructure, familiarity with hydraulic modeling software, and the ability to work on public sector municipal projects are consistently valued across their postings.
How do visa filing timelines affect my start date at Carollo Engineers?
Timeline depends heavily on your visa category. E-3 and TN visas can be processed at a consulate or port of entry in a matter of weeks after your offer letter and Labor Condition Application are ready. H-1B cap cases are tied to the October 1 fiscal year start, meaning an April lottery selection translates to a start date no earlier than October. F-1 OPT extensions and STEM OPT authorization through E-Verify add separate processing windows that should be tracked against your current authorization expiry.
