Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires the Technician role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Review the job description carefully and confirm your degree field directly matches the technical duties listed, not just the job title.
Target open requisitions in project-heavy service lines
Westwood staffs Technicians to support active client engagements in consulting and professional services. Prioritize applying to roles tied to ongoing project pipelines, where the hiring timeline is driven by client delivery needs rather than backfill cycles.
Clarify OPT or CPT authorization before your first interview
If you are on F-1 status, confirm whether the role qualifies under your designated degree field for OPT or CPT authorization. Consulting firm roles can have narrow qualifying criteria, and mismatches cause delays after an offer is extended.
Ask how the company structures LCA filings for project-based roles
DOL requires a certified Labor Condition Application before H-1B filing. At consulting firms, Technicians often work across client sites, which can require worksite-specific LCA amendments. Clarify this with the recruiter before accepting an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Technician openings at Westwood
Search Migrate Mate to filter Technician roles at Westwood Professional Services by visa type, so you only see positions where your specific sponsorship category is supported and actively being filed.
Build documentation of hands-on technical experience early
For EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship, PERM requires detailed evidence of job duties and qualifications. Gather employer letters, project records, and certifications now so the PERM advertising process is not delayed by missing documentation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Westwood Professional Services sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Yes, Westwood Professional Services has a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Technician roles. Because Westwood operates in consulting and professional services, the company is familiar with the LCA certification and I-129 petition process. You should confirm during the offer stage which specific Technician positions are designated as H-1B eligible, since not all roles within the same job family may qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at Westwood Professional Services?
You can browse and apply for Technician openings at Westwood Professional Services directly through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify roles that match your authorization status. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect the technical competencies and project experience relevant to Westwood's consulting service lines, and be explicit about your visa status and sponsorship requirements in your initial application to avoid delays later in the process.
Which visa types does Westwood Professional Services commonly use for Technician roles?
Westwood Professional Services sponsors several visa categories for Technician positions, including H-1B, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. TN visas apply only to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while H-1B and the EB-2 or EB-3 PERM process are the standard paths for longer-term employment sponsorship.
What qualifications and experience does Westwood Professional Services expect for Technician roles?
Technician roles at Westwood typically require a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field, with practical experience tied to the specific service line the role supports. For visa sponsorship purposes, particularly H-1B, your degree must directly relate to the job duties rather than just broadly covering a technical area. Certifications, hands-on project experience, and familiarity with the tools or standards used in consulting engagements strengthen your candidacy and support the specialty occupation determination USCIS requires.
How do I plan my timeline when targeting a sponsored Technician role at Westwood Professional Services?
If you are pursuing H-1B sponsorship, the annual cap filing window opens in March for an October 1 start date, so you need an offer in place before late February. TN and F-1 OPT sponsorship have more flexible timelines. For green card sponsorship via PERM, the DOL advertising and auditing process can span several months before USCIS filing begins, so early conversations with Westwood's HR team about long-term sponsorship intentions are practical steps to take at the offer stage.
