Verify your credentials meet Mayo's requirements
Many Technician roles at Mayo Clinic require specific certifications, like ASCP for lab techs or ARRT for radiology. Confirm your international credentials are recognized or can be evaluated as equivalent before you apply.
Target departments with consistent technical hiring
Mayo Clinic's laboratory, radiology, and surgical services departments hire Technicians across all three campuses in Rochester, Phoenix, and Jacksonville. Filtering your search by department and location helps you find roles where sponsorship is a known part of the hiring pattern.
Start your job search through Migrate Mate
Browse open Technician positions at Mayo Clinic filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, so you're only looking at roles where sponsorship is confirmed and relevant to your status, not guessing from a general job board.
Prepare for PERM timing if you're on a temporary visa
If your goal is permanent residence through EB-2 or EB-3, Mayo Clinic will need to run PERM labor certification through DOL, which can take 12 to 18 months. Starting that conversation during the offer stage, not after onboarding, keeps your timeline realistic.
Address your visa status clearly in your application
Mayo Clinic's offer process includes an employment verification step through E-Verify. Being upfront about your current visa status and work authorization timeline in your application avoids delays once you're in the offer stage.

Find Technician at Mayo Clinic JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Mayo Clinic sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Yes, Mayo Clinic sponsors H-1B visas for Technician roles where the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical or scientific field. Not every Technician title qualifies, since the H-1B is limited to specialty occupations. Roles in laboratory science, radiology, and research technology are the most likely to meet that threshold. Your specific job title and degree field both matter when Mayo's legal team evaluates eligibility.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at Mayo Clinic?
Applications go through Mayo Clinic's careers portal, where you can filter by job category and location. When applying, you'll be asked about your work authorization status. If you need sponsorship, select that option clearly so your application is routed correctly. Migrate Mate lists open Technician roles at Mayo Clinic filtered by visa type, which makes it easier to find positions where sponsorship is already confirmed before you apply.
Which visa types does Mayo Clinic commonly use for Technician roles?
H-1B is the most common route for degreed Technician roles. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical categories. F-1 OPT and CPT are available for students and recent graduates, and J-1 is used for certain training or exchange-based technical positions. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are also available for long-term permanent residence sponsorship.
What qualifications does Mayo Clinic expect for Technician roles?
Requirements vary by department, but most Technician positions at Mayo Clinic expect a relevant associate's or bachelor's degree plus role-specific certification. Laboratory Technicians typically need ASCP certification, while radiologic Technologists need ARRT credentials. Clinical experience in a hospital or academic medical setting strengthens your application significantly. For H-1B eligibility specifically, a four-year degree in a directly related field is generally required.
How do I estimate the timeline from application to starting work at Mayo Clinic on a visa?
For H-1B, USCIS opens the lottery in March for an October 1 start date, so your offer needs to align with that cycle. Premium processing can reduce the USCIS adjudication window to 15 business days once you're selected. For F-1 OPT, your EAD must be valid before your start date, which can take up to 90 days from USCIS. Factor in Mayo Clinic's credentialing and onboarding process, which can add several weeks on top of any government timelines.
