Align your credentials to semiconductor standards
Lam Research technician roles typically require hands-on experience with vacuum systems, RF generators, or chemical mechanical planarization tools. Certifications in electronics, mechatronics, or semiconductor fabrication strengthen your profile before you apply.
Target Lam's field service and fab-support openings
Lam posts technician roles tied to specific product lines like Etch, Deposition, or Clean systems. Filtering by product area rather than just job title gets you closer to roles where your equipment experience maps directly to their needs.
Use Migrate Mate to find Lam Research technician roles
Search Migrate Mate to filter Lam Research technician openings by visa type supported. You can identify which roles have active sponsorship activity and prioritize applications where your visa category is already in use.
Understand how TN status applies to technician roles
TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals but require the role to fall under a qualifying USMCA occupation. Engineering technician classifications can qualify, but the job duties listed in your offer letter need to match the TN category precisely.
Prepare for multi-stage PERM labor certification timelines
If your path leads toward an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, expect the PERM process with DOL to take a year or more before USCIS petition filing begins. Discuss permanent residency intent with your recruiter during the offer stage, not after you start.

Find Technician at Lam Research JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for technician roles. The company has an established immigration program that handles petition filing through USCIS, including premium processing in time-sensitive situations. Technician positions that require specialized knowledge of semiconductor equipment typically meet the specialty occupation threshold, though the specific job duties in your offer letter matter for eligibility.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal, where technician roles are listed by product line and location. You can also browse open Lam Research technician positions filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify roles where international candidates are actively being considered before you submit your application.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Technician roles?
Lam Research supports several visa categories for technician hires, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in STEM programs, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations, and J-1 for exchange visitors. For longer-term pathways, Lam also files EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for technicians moving toward permanent residency.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for sponsored Technician roles?
Most technician roles at Lam Research require an associate degree or higher in electronics, electrical engineering technology, or a closely related field, plus hands-on experience with semiconductor or precision manufacturing equipment. Familiarity with specific tool sets like CVD, ALD, etch chambers, or vacuum systems is often listed as a requirement rather than a preference, particularly for roles tied to customer-facing field service.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process typically take for Technician roles?
From offer acceptance to work authorization, timelines vary by visa type. H-1B cap filings follow USCIS lottery windows in March with employment starting October 1, though cap-exempt scenarios can move faster. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border in a single day. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through DOL typically runs one to two years before the USCIS petition stage begins.
