Align your background to semiconductor operations
Lam Research's Business Manager roles sit inside a highly technical product environment. Framing your experience around hardware product lifecycles, capital equipment markets, or supply chain in electronics manufacturing signals fit beyond a generic business background.
Request LCA details before accepting an offer
Before you sign, ask your recruiter which wage level the Labor Condition Application will reflect. DOL prevailing wage levels directly affect your offer's competitiveness and your petition's strength, so confirm the level matches your responsibilities.
Target roles in Lam's strategic business units
Lam Research structures Business Manager positions across distinct product and regional divisions. Applying to roles tied to a specific product line or region increases your chance of landing in a group with active headcount and an established sponsorship workflow.
Prepare your credentials for a specialty occupation case
USCIS requires Business Manager petitions to demonstrate the role requires a specific bachelor's degree, not a general business degree. Gather transcripts, a degree equivalency evaluation if your credential is foreign, and documentation linking your field of study to the specific role.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Business Manager roles at Lam Research
Lam Research posts Business Manager openings across multiple divisions at different times. Use Migrate Mate to surface only the roles where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're not spending time on applications that won't lead to a petition.
Account for H-1B cap timing if you are on OPT
If you're working at Lam Research on F-1 OPT, your employer must file your H-1B petition by April 1 for an October 1 start. A gap between OPT expiration and H-1B activation may require a cap-gap extension, so confirm your OPT end date against the USCIS filing window.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Business Managers?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Business Manager roles. The company has an established immigration program and works with legal counsel to file petitions for qualified candidates. Because Business Manager roles must qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, your application will need to demonstrate that the position requires a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Business Manager roles?
Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for the majority of Business Manager hires requiring work authorization. For candidates already on F-1 OPT or CPT, the company supports those statuses during early employment before transitioning to H-1B. Lam Research also sponsors TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals, and pursues EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for employees on longer-term paths.
How do I apply for Business Manager jobs at Lam Research?
You can browse and apply for Business Manager openings at Lam Research through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can focus on positions where sponsorship is confirmed. When applying directly, tailor your resume to the specific business unit and product line listed in the job description. Lam Research's hiring process for Business Manager roles typically includes multiple rounds covering strategic thinking, cross-functional leadership, and business case analysis.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for Business Manager roles?
Lam Research typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related technical field, with an MBA or advanced degree preferred for senior positions. Relevant experience in semiconductor equipment, capital equipment markets, or electronics manufacturing carries significant weight. Cross-functional experience spanning product management, finance, or operations is commonly expected, and roles often require demonstrated ability to manage global stakeholders.
How do I plan my timeline if Lam Research offers me sponsorship?
If you're outside the U.S., your employer will need to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. Standard H-1B processing runs three to five months, while premium processing reduces USCIS adjudication to 15 business days. Build your start date expectations around these windows and confirm with your Lam Research HR contact which processing option the company uses.
