Frame your experience around semiconductor program delivery
Lam Research's Project Program Managers drive NPI cycles, tool readiness, and cross-site engineering coordination. Align your resume to those outcomes specifically, not generic project management. PMP or CAPM credentials carry weight here alongside hardware product lifecycle experience.
Research which Lam sites actively hire this role
Lam Research's Project Program Manager openings are concentrated at specific engineering campuses. Fremont and Tualatin tend to post this role most frequently. Targeting applications to sites with active requisitions improves your callback odds significantly over applying broadly.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
Lam Research sponsors multiple visa types for this function. Before an offer is extended, confirm with the recruiter whether your situation fits H-1B, TN, or OPT so there are no delays once the process starts. Misaligned expectations at offer stage can push timelines back by weeks.
Time OPT applications around Lam's hiring cycles
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply to Lam Research's Project Program Manager roles at least three months before your OPT end date. USCIS recommends filing OPT extensions 90 days in advance, and Lam's internal onboarding timelines add further lead time requirements.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Project Program Manager roles
Filtering for visa-sponsored Project Program Manager positions at Lam Research by hand is slow and often incomplete. Migrate Mate indexes these roles with sponsorship context already attached, so you can identify and apply to relevant openings without manually vetting each posting.
Prepare DOL-ready employment verification documents early
Lam Research's legal team will need to substantiate your specialty occupation classification when filing with DOL for an LCA. Gather your degree transcripts, credential evaluations for non-U.S. qualifications, and a detailed job description from the hiring manager before the petition process begins.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Project Program Managers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation given its requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, business, or a related technical field. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing your application around the April filing window is critical. Lam Research's immigration team typically coordinates with selected candidates well ahead of that deadline.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at Lam Research?
Apply directly through Lam Research's careers portal or use Migrate Mate to find open Project Program Manager roles with visa sponsorship confirmed. When applying, tailor your resume to semiconductor equipment program management, highlighting cross-functional coordination, NPI experience, and any exposure to fab or equipment engineering environments. Recruiters at Lam Research move quickly on qualified applicants, so a targeted application outperforms a generic one.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Project Program Manager roles?
Lam Research sponsors H-1B, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways for this role. H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant route for full-time hires. TN visa is available for Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying professional categories. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for early-career candidates transitioning from university programs, particularly those with engineering or technical management backgrounds.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for a sponsored Project Program Manager role?
Lam Research typically expects a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related field, with several years of program or project management experience in hardware or semiconductor environments. Familiarity with NPI processes, cross-functional team coordination, and tools like Microsoft Project or Jira is common across posted requirements. A PMP certification is preferred in many listings but not universally required.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Project Program Manager at Lam Research?
For H-1B sponsorship, expect a timeline of six to twelve months from offer to work authorization if you're subject to the annual cap, since the lottery runs in March with a start date of October 1. TN status for eligible candidates can be obtained at the border in a single day. OPT extensions through USCIS take up to three to five months, so candidates should flag their timeline to Lam Research recruiters as early as the initial interview stage.
