ROLE DESCRIPTION
Form Energy is hiring an NPI Project Engineer to own the introduction and implementation of mechanical product and process changes into our Weirton, WV manufacturing facility. This role sits within Operations Engineering and works in close partnership with our Technical Program Manager to ensure that every change — from next-generation pack-level design updates to equipment and process iterations — lands in production in a controlled, quality-safe, and schedule-conscious way. You will help build the systems, workflows, and standards that define how Form Energy scales new products into manufacturing. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape a critical function at a company developing breakthrough technology for long-duration energy storage. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
- Own the end-to-end introduction of mechanical product and process changes into the manufacturing line, with initial focus on battery pack systems
- Map all incoming engineering changes against production line state, identifying risks to quality, throughput, and schedule before cutover
- Lead production trials for new or modified designs — defining trial plans, success criteria, timing, and documenting outcomes
- Drive structured cutover planning, coordinating timing across engineering, supply chain, warehouse, and production to ensure clean transitions with no unplanned disruption
- Translate engineering changes into manufacturing execution language — work orders, Oracle transactions, line flow impacts, and BOM/routing updates
- Partner closely with the TPM to maintain change visibility, milestone tracking, and cross-functional alignment across all active NPI efforts
- Serve as the operations voice in design reviews and change control processes, pushing back on changes that lack manufacturing readiness
- Help develop NPI systems and standards — change intake, readiness criteria, trial governance, and cutover checklists — as this function matures
What you'll bring:
- 6–10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, NPI, or engineering change management in a high-complexity production environment (automotive, aerospace, energy, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience managing product or process changes into a live manufacturing line, including trial execution, change control, and cutover coordination
- Hands-on familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) including work order flow, BOM management, and routing
- Strong mechanical systems intuition — ability to read engineering drawings, understand pack/module assembly processes, and assess change impact on production
- Proven ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and build structure where little exists
- Excellent cross-functional communication — comfortable engaging engineering, supply chain, warehouse, and production teams simultaneously
WHERE YOU'LL WORK:
This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
Humanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy’s culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that. Form Energy offers competitive salaries, stock options, and a holistic benefits package to ensure all employees have what they need to thrive while working here.
When it comes to you and your family’s health, we cover 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums for full-time employees - and 80% of healthcare premiums for dependents. This starts from day one. We also offer at least 12 weeks of paid leave for new parents (up to 20 weeks for birthing parents), and generous vacation policies to give employees time to recharge when needed.
To build America’s energy future, we need everyone at the table. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply to our open jobs.
If you may require reasonable accommodations to participate in our interview process, please contact accommodations@formenergy.com. Requests for accommodations will be treated with discretion.

Frame Your Hardware Program Experience Precisely
Form Energy hires Project Program Managers to coordinate physical product development and manufacturing ramp. Before applying, document your experience with stage-gate processes, BOM management, or factory readiness reviews. Vague project management credentials won't differentiate you in a hardware-first hiring funnel.
Verify Your LCA Wage Level Before Interviewing
Form Energy must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your H-1B can proceed. Research prevailing wage data for Program Manager roles in Weirton, West Virginia or wherever the position is based, so salary negotiations don't stall or collapse your petition at the LCA stage.
Target Roles That Align With Active Product Programs
Program Manager headcount at Form Energy typically scales with active battery system deployments and manufacturing buildouts. Targeting open roles tied to active grid projects rather than generalist postings increases your chances of landing a team that has budget, timeline pressure, and real sponsorship urgency.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Sponsoring Employers Efficiently
Not every electronics and hardware company that posts Program Manager roles will sponsor visas. Use Migrate Mate to filter directly for employers with a verified sponsorship history for this function, so you spend your time on applications that can realistically lead to a petition.
Start OPT Employment Before Your 60-Day Grace Period Closes
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, your 60-day grace period after your current position ends does not pause the OPT clock. Coordinate your start date with Form Energy's onboarding timeline so your employment authorization remains continuous and your employer's E-Verify obligation is met from day one.
Prepare Cross-Functional References for the Petition Package
USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation determinations for Program Manager roles because the title can appear generalist. Gather reference letters or job duty evidence showing your work requires a specific engineering or technical bachelor's degree, not just organizational coordination, before your employer files Form I-129.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Form Energy sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Yes, Form Energy has sponsored H-1B visas for Project Program Manager roles. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing matters. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a cap-exempt transfer to Form Energy may be possible. New applicants without existing H-1B status need to enter the USCIS lottery, which opens each spring for October 1 start dates.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at Form Energy?
Applications go through Form Energy's careers page. Before applying, tailor your resume to reflect hardware development program management, specifically experience with cross-functional milestone tracking, manufacturing readiness, or supplier coordination in an electronics or energy hardware context. You can also browse current Project Program Manager openings at Form Energy with visa sponsorship filters through Migrate Mate to confirm which postings are active and sponsorship-eligible.
Which visa types does Form Energy commonly use for Project Program Manager roles?
Form Energy sponsors several visa categories for this function, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates still in their authorized training period, TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, and immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for candidates pursuing permanent residence through employer sponsorship.
What qualifications does Form Energy expect for a sponsored Project Program Manager?
Form Energy typically looks for a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, or a closely related technical field. Hands-on experience managing hardware development programs, ideally in energy storage, battery technology, or complex electronics manufacturing, strengthens your candidacy significantly. USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, so a directly relevant technical degree matters more than general business or management credentials.
How do I think about the visa sponsorship timeline when negotiating an offer at Form Energy?
If you need H-1B sponsorship and are not already in status, build the lottery cycle into your planning. Registrations open in March and selections are announced by late March or early April for an October 1 start. For F-1 OPT candidates, confirm your OPT expiration date before accepting an offer and ensure your start date falls within your authorized period. USCIS premium processing for I-129 petitions is available and can compress adjudication to around 15 business days if timeline certainty matters for your situation.
