Align your resume to semiconductor process engineering
Lam Research recruits heavily for process, equipment, and field engineering roles tied to etch, deposition, and CMP. Frame your experience around tool qualification, process integration, or yield improvement rather than generic hardware or R&D language.
Target roles that match your current visa status
Lam Research sponsors across multiple visa categories including F-1 OPT and CPT for new graduates. Applying to roles that align with your authorized work period prevents complications during the offer stage and signals you've done your homework.
Browse open Engineering roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces Engineering positions at companies with documented sponsorship track records like Lam Research. Filtering by visa type lets you focus your applications on roles where sponsorship for your specific category is actively supported.
Prepare your credentials for specialty occupation review
USCIS scrutinizes whether Engineering roles meet specialty occupation standards. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before your offer stage so the employer's attorney isn't waiting on documentation.
Ask about LCA timelines before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting any H-1B petition. Confirm where Lam Research is in that process so you can set realistic start date expectations, especially if you're transitioning from OPT.
Factor in PERM timelines if your goal is a Green Card
Lam Research sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for Engineering roles. PERM labor certification at the DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before the I-140 petition stage, so raise the topic early in negotiations rather than after you've already started.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The company has a consistent track record of H-1B filings for positions in process engineering, equipment engineering, and related technical disciplines. Because the H-1B cap applies each fiscal year, timing your application and confirming your employer's submission window early in the offer process matters.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal. Before applying, review the job description carefully and align your resume to the specific engineering function, whether that's process, field, or equipment engineering. Migrate Mate also lists open Engineering roles at Lam Research filtered by visa sponsorship type, which helps you identify positions that match your current authorization status before you apply.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Engineering roles?
Lam Research supports a broad range of visa categories for Engineering hires, including H-1B, F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations, J-1 visa for interns and trainees, and immigrant pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term employees pursuing a Green Card.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for sponsored Engineering roles?
Most Engineering roles at Lam Research require a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field. Roles supporting semiconductor etch or deposition equipment often favor candidates with hands-on process integration or tool characterization experience. Advanced degrees strengthen candidacy for research-oriented or senior-level positions.
How do I navigate the visa sponsorship process timeline when joining Lam Research?
The timeline depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT authorization is typically in place before your start date if your program timeline aligns. For H-1B transfers or cap-subject filings, USCIS requires the petition to be filed before you begin work under that status. Confirm with the HR or immigration team whether Lam Research uses premium processing, which reduces USCIS adjudication to roughly 15 business days.
