Align your background to Google's business org
Google's Business Manager roles typically sit within Sales, Partnerships, or Product Go-To-Market. Frame your resume around revenue impact, cross-functional program ownership, or market expansion work, not general management experience.
Target roles tied to Google's scaled products
Google Cloud, Google Ads, and YouTube each run dedicated business management tracks with consistent hiring cycles. Roles within these verticals tend to have more structured sponsorship pathways than newer or experimental business units.
Confirm LCA filing before accepting any offer
Before signing, ask Google's recruiting team to confirm the Labor Condition Application will be filed with the DOL before your start date. The LCA must be certified and posted for ten business days before USCIS will accept your H-1B petition.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring roles
Not every Business Manager posting at Google explicitly states visa sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to surface and filter roles where Google has an active sponsorship track record for this specific function, saving time on dead-end applications.
Prepare for Google's specialty occupation documentation
USCIS scrutinizes Business Manager petitions more than engineering roles. Secure a detailed job description from your Google recruiter that ties the position to a specific degree field, ideally business, economics, or a quantitative discipline, before your petition is drafted.
Time your application around Google's H-1B filing window
Google registers H-1B candidates in March for the federal lottery. If you're on OPT with a STEM extension, your 60-day grace period and cap-gap protection give you flexibility, but coordinating your offer timeline to land before the registration window closes is critical.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Business Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Business Manager roles. The process follows the standard H-1B cap subject pathway, meaning Google registers you in the March lottery and files a full petition if selected. Because Business Manager is not an engineering role, the petition typically requires detailed documentation establishing that the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for Business Manager roles?
Google sponsors H-1B visas for the majority of Business Manager hires who need work authorization. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, which follows a similar process but bypasses the H-1B lottery, making it a faster path. The H-1B1 visa, available to citizens of Singapore and Chile, is also sponsored where applicable.
What qualifications and experience does Google expect for Business Manager roles?
Google's Business Manager positions generally require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, marketing, or a related field, with several years of experience in strategy, partnerships, or go-to-market functions. Many postings prefer candidates with experience in the technology or software industry. An MBA is common among candidates in senior-track roles but is rarely listed as a strict requirement.
How do I apply for Business Manager jobs at Google?
You can apply through Google's careers portal or find verified sponsorship-eligible listings through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where sponsorship has been confirmed for your visa type. When applying, tailor your application to the specific business unit you're targeting, whether that's Google Cloud, Google Ads, or another division, as hiring teams and criteria differ across verticals.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Google to sponsor my visa?
If you're targeting the H-1B, work backward from the April 1 registration deadline. Google typically needs a signed offer and your information submitted well before March to register you in time. If you're on OPT, your cap-gap protection keeps your status valid while the petition is pending after October 1, but starting conversations with recruiters in January or February gives you the best buffer.
