Align Your Credentials to NERC Standards
Westwood recruits Transmission Engineers for grid interconnection and power delivery work. Certifications tied to NERC reliability standards or IEEE power systems training signal technical readiness before you apply and strengthen your H-1B specialty occupation case.
Target Westwood's Active Project Regions
Westwood staffs transmission projects across multiple states, so search by region rather than just job title. Roles tied to active transmission line or substation projects move faster through internal approval and typically get visa sponsorship prioritized over backfilled positions.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Transmission Engineer Openings
Searching general job boards mixes sponsored and non-sponsored roles with no way to filter. Use Migrate Mate to find Transmission Engineer openings at Westwood that are tied to visa sponsorship, so you're applying where your immigration situation is already accounted for.
Request LCA Filing Details Before Accepting
Before you sign an offer, confirm the Labor Condition Application timeline with Westwood's HR team. DOL certification must complete before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition, and delays at this step affect your start date more than any other part of the process.
Document Your Engineering Experience with Deliverables
USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation claims for consulting firm petitions. Prepare a portfolio that links your transmission engineering work to specific project outcomes, not just job titles, so the petition clearly establishes that a relevant bachelor's degree is the normal minimum for your role.

Find Transmission Engineer at Westwood Professional Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Westwood Professional Services sponsor H-1B visas for Transmission Engineers?
Yes, Westwood Professional Services sponsors H-1B visas for Transmission Engineer roles. The company operates in the Consulting and Professional Services sector, and transmission engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards given its degree requirements in electrical or power systems engineering. Sponsorship is handled through Westwood's HR and legal teams, so confirm the process during your offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Transmission Engineer roles at Westwood Professional Services?
Westwood sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization path for Transmission Engineers, along with EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for longer-term candidates. F-1 OPT and CPT are available for students and recent graduates, TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and J-1 sponsorship is also supported for eligible candidates.
What qualifications does Westwood Professional Services expect for Transmission Engineer roles?
Westwood's Transmission Engineer openings typically require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related power systems field. Practical experience with transmission line design, substation engineering, or grid interconnection studies is expected. Familiarity with industry tools used in power flow analysis and proficiency with NERC reliability frameworks strengthens your application, particularly for mid-level and senior positions.
How do I apply for Transmission Engineer jobs at Westwood Professional Services?
You can find and apply for Transmission Engineer openings at Westwood Professional Services through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship so you can confirm sponsorship is available before applying. Westwood posts positions across multiple regions tied to active transmission infrastructure projects, so searching by location and project type helps you find the best fit for your experience and visa situation.
How do I plan my timeline if Westwood is sponsoring my H-1B?
H-1B petitions for an October 1 start date must be filed with USCIS by April 1, following lottery selection in March. Before that, Westwood's team needs time to prepare your Labor Condition Application for DOL certification, which typically takes one to three weeks. If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, build in at least five to six months of runway before your authorization expires.
