Translate your pipeline experience into U.S. terms
Garver's BD roles center on public-sector and infrastructure clients. Frame your credentials around government contract pursuits, teaming agreements, and capture planning rather than generic sales experience. A portfolio showing IDIQ or AEC sector wins resonates with their hiring managers.
Verify your visa category supports BD work
Business Development Lead roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B, but the degree-to-role alignment matters. A business or marketing degree paired with professional services BD experience strengthens the specialty occupation argument USCIS reviewers will assess during adjudication.
Target Garver offices in H-1B cap-exempt periods
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT or a cap-exempt employer, you can file an H-1B with Garver outside the April lottery window. Confirm your current status timeline and align your job offer timing to avoid a gap in work authorization before your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Garver's open BD roles
Garver posts Business Development Lead openings across multiple regional offices, and availability shifts frequently. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Garver roles by visa type so you can apply to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing.
Negotiate the LCA filing into your offer timeline
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Build at least two to four weeks of LCA certification time into your expected start date when negotiating with Garver's HR team to avoid a compressed filing window.
Prepare a PERM-ready employment history if targeting Green Card
Garver sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for qualifying roles. If permanent residency is your goal, document every past BD position with exact dates, duties, and employer details now. PERM audits require precise records, and gaps in your employment history can delay the process significantly.

Find Business Development Lead at Garver JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Leads?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Lead roles. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree requirements tied to business development work in professional services and engineering consulting. You'll need a relevant bachelor's degree or higher, and your employer will need to file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS processes the petition.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development Lead roles at Garver?
H-1B is the most common path for Business Development Leads at Garver, but the company also sponsors F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still in school or recently graduated, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business categories, J-1 for certain exchange arrangements, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Cards for long-term employees pursuing permanent residency.
What qualifications does Garver expect for Business Development Lead roles?
Garver typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field, combined with experience pursuing government or infrastructure contracts. Familiarity with the AEC sector, public agency procurement processes, and proposal development is valued. Prior experience in teaming arrangements, capture strategy, or IDIQ contract pursuits strengthens your profile significantly for this function.
How do I apply for Business Development Lead jobs at Garver?
You can find and apply for Business Development Lead openings at Garver through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm sponsorship is available before applying. When submitting your application, tailor your resume to Garver's infrastructure and engineering client base and clearly document your BD track record in relevant sectors. Garver posts openings across multiple regional offices, so check for locations that align with your target market.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Garver as a Business Development Lead?
Timeline depends on your current visa status. An H-1B cap filing takes roughly six to eight months from lottery selection in April to an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT with a valid EAD, you can start sooner while the H-1B is pending. LCA certification through DOL typically adds two to four weeks before USCIS sees the petition. PERM-based Green Card processes can run one to three years depending on your country of birth and priority date.
