Frame your credentials around U.S. specialty occupation standards
Business development roles at large holding companies like Humana often face H-1B RFEs questioning whether the position requires a specific bachelor's degree. Document how your degree field directly supports the analytical or strategic scope of the role, not just general business experience.
Target Humana's enterprise and payer partnership divisions
Humana's business development hiring concentrates around health plan growth, provider network expansion, and employer benefits. Positioning your background in healthcare-adjacent industries or B2B partnerships makes you a stronger fit for the roles most likely to carry sponsorship approval.
Verify Humana's E-Verify enrollment before your final interview stage
Humana participates in E-Verify, which is required for F-1 OPT STEM extension eligibility. Confirm enrollment through the E-Verify employer search before accepting an offer so your post-graduation work authorization timeline isn't disrupted at onboarding.
Align your job search timing with USCIS H-1B cap cycles
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, you'll want an offer in hand by February or March to meet the April registration window. Targeting Humana's open roles in Q4 and Q1 gives you the lead time to complete interviews and secure an offer before registration closes.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Business Development Lead roles at Humana by visa type
Not every open role at Humana is flagged for sponsorship in standard job boards. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for positions where Humana has an active sponsorship history, so you're applying to roles that are actually viable for your visa situation.
Ask your recruiter about PERM eligibility during the offer stage
For long-term career planning at Humana, clarify early whether the role is structured to support PERM-based Green Card sponsorship. Business development positions at the lead level often qualify under EB-2 or EB-3, but DOL's prevailing wage determination for your specific role affects the timeline significantly.

Find Business Development Lead at Humana JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Humana sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Leads?
Yes, Humana sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Lead roles. The key factor is whether the specific position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. Roles focused on healthcare strategy, payer partnerships, or enterprise growth at Humana typically meet this threshold, but the job description language matters during the petition review.
How do I apply for Business Development Lead jobs at Humana?
You can apply directly through Humana's careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters open roles by sponsorship eligibility so you can identify positions where Humana has a demonstrated track record of supporting international candidates. Either way, tailor your application to Humana's specific business lines, such as health plan growth, employer benefits, or provider network development, since business development at a holding company of this scale is rarely a generalist function.
Which visa types does Humana commonly use for Business Development Lead roles?
Humana supports a range of visa pathways for this function, including H-1B for specialty occupation hires, F-1 OPT and CPT for early-career candidates transitioning from U.S. universities, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying business occupations, and J-1 for exchange-based arrangements. For longer-term sponsorship, Humana also has a history of supporting EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card filings for established employees in this function.
What qualifications does Humana expect for Business Development Lead candidates requiring sponsorship?
Humana's Business Development Lead roles generally require a bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, finance, or a closely related field, with several years of experience in strategic partnerships, B2B sales, or healthcare-sector growth. For H-1B purposes, the degree-to-job match needs to be specific, so applicants with degrees in broadly applicable fields like general management may face more scrutiny during the USCIS petition process than those with targeted healthcare or analytics backgrounds.
How do I plan the timeline for getting sponsored at Humana as a Business Development Lead?
Timeline depends heavily on your current visa status. F-1 OPT gives you up to 12 months of work authorization, with a potential STEM extension if Humana is E-Verify enrolled, which it is. For cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, you'll need an offer secured before the April registration window. TN status can be obtained at the border relatively quickly. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, if applicable, typically takes two to four years from initiation to approval depending on your priority date and country of birth.
