Align your credentials with PE licensure expectations
BKF Engineers values engineers progressing toward Professional Engineer licensure. Before applying, confirm your foreign engineering credentials are evaluated by NCEES or a NACES-approved agency so your degree equivalency is documented and ready to present.
Target BKF's civil infrastructure project teams
BKF's Construction Project Engineer openings cluster around roadway, grading, and utility projects for public agency clients. Tailor your resume to show direct experience managing field coordination, RFIs, and submittals on civil or land development sites, not just design work.
Search verified sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate
Filter Construction Project Engineer openings by confirmed sponsorship history before you apply. Migrate Mate lets you search BKF Engineers specifically so you're targeting roles with a documented EB-2 or EB-3 pathway, not guessing at a recruiter's willingness.
Clarify the PERM timeline during offer negotiations
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship at a consulting firm means your employer must complete a PERM labor certification with DOL before filing your immigrant petition. Ask the hiring manager directly whether the firm uses outside immigration counsel and what their standard processing timeline looks like.
Document project cost and schedule ownership clearly
BKF's Construction Project Engineer roles sit at the intersection of field oversight and client-facing delivery. USCIS specialty occupation determinations favor applications where the job description shows a specific degree requirement, so ensure your offer letter reflects that engineering judgment is central to the role.
Prepare your employment authorization bridge strategy
If you're currently on OPT or a dependent visa, confirm whether BKF's immigration counsel has handled concurrent H-1B cap-exempt filings or STEM OPT extensions. A 60-day gap between authorization periods can interrupt project assignments, so raise this before your start date is set.

Find Construction Project Engineer at BKF Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Construction Project Engineers?
BKF Engineers' sponsorship activity for Construction Project Engineers has historically concentrated on employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3, rather than H-1B cap-subject filings. If you're already in H-1B status through a prior employer, a transfer to BKF is worth discussing directly with their HR team and immigration counsel during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Construction Project Engineer roles at BKF Engineers?
EB-2 and EB-3 are the visa categories most associated with Construction Project Engineer sponsorship at BKF Engineers. EB-3 is the more common path for roles requiring a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering. EB-2 applies when the position requires an advanced degree or demonstrably exceptional qualifications. Both routes go through DOL's PERM labor certification before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications and experience does BKF Engineers expect for Construction Project Engineers?
BKF typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and hands-on experience managing construction phase services on land development or infrastructure projects. Familiarity with California public agency permitting, submittal review, and RFI management strengthens an application. Progress toward EIT certification or PE licensure is viewed favorably, particularly for candidates pursuing long-term sponsorship through an EB-3 pathway.
How do I apply for Construction Project Engineer jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can browse current Construction Project Engineer openings at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles from employers with confirmed sponsorship activity so you're not applying blind. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply directly through BKF's careers portal and mention your visa status and timeline early in the process so the recruiting team can loop in immigration counsel before an offer is extended.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Construction Project Engineer at BKF Engineers?
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, expect the PERM labor certification phase alone to take six to twelve months with DOL, followed by USCIS petition adjudication. If your priority date is current, adjustment of status can proceed concurrently. Total timeline from offer to Green Card approval commonly spans two to four years depending on your country of birth and whether premium processing is available at the petition stage.
