Align your PE licensure before applying
BKF Engineers expects Engineering Manager candidates to hold or be actively pursuing a Professional Engineer license. Confirm your state licensure status before submitting applications, since PE credentials directly influence whether sponsorship is extended for senior-level hires.
Target BKF's project-heavy regional offices
BKF operates across California and the Pacific Northwest, where infrastructure and land development pipelines stay active year-round. Offices tied to major municipal or transit contracts tend to open Engineering Manager roles more frequently, so focus your outreach there.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Engineering Manager roles
BKF Engineers lists open Engineering Manager positions with verified sponsorship data. Search Migrate Mate to filter specifically for BKF roles that match your visa type, so you're applying where sponsorship is actively on the table rather than guessing.
Prepare a PERM-ready employment history record
BKF sponsors Engineering Managers through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways, both of which require PERM labor certification. DOL requires detailed documentation of prior employment, so organize your job titles, dates, and duties in a format your immigration attorney can use immediately after an offer.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before signing the offer
Consulting firms like BKF structure sponsorship support differently from tech employers. Clarify in writing whether the firm covers PERM filing fees, attorney costs, and premium processing before you accept, since these terms are rarely standardized across engineering consultancies.
Account for PERM processing time in your transition plan
PERM labor certification at DOL currently takes over a year in many cases before the I-140 petition can even be filed. If you're on a time-limited status, map out your earliest eligible filing date and build your job search timeline around that window.

Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Managers?
BKF Engineers' sponsorship activity for Engineering Managers is concentrated in employment-based Green Card pathways rather than H-1B transfers. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, BKF can initiate an H-1B transfer concurrent with starting the permanent residency process, but candidates should confirm the firm's current H-1B posture directly during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Engineering Manager roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers sponsors Engineering Managers primarily through EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, both requiring PERM labor certification through DOL. EB-2 applies when the role requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability. EB-3 covers positions requiring a standard bachelor's degree with relevant experience. The appropriate category depends on how BKF defines the minimum requirements for the specific Engineering Manager opening.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Engineering Manager roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers typically expects Engineering Manager candidates to hold a bachelor's or master's degree in civil, structural, or a related engineering discipline, along with a Professional Engineer license. Relevant experience leading project teams in infrastructure, land development, or urban design is central to what they hire for. Candidates without a PE license who are close to qualifying may still be considered for certain openings.
How do I apply for Engineering Manager jobs at BKF Engineers?
Browse current Engineering Manager openings at BKF Engineers on Migrate Mate, where roles are listed with sponsorship context so you know which positions are realistic targets for your visa situation. When applying directly, tailor your resume to reflect project leadership experience and any PE licensure. Reaching out to BKF's recruitment contacts in your target regional office can accelerate the process alongside a formal application.
How do I plan my timeline if BKF Engineers offers me Green Card sponsorship?
PERM labor certification is the first step and currently takes well over a year at DOL before BKF can file your I-140 petition with USCIS. After I-140 approval, wait times for a visa number depend on your country of birth and whether you fall under EB-2 or EB-3. Start this process as early as possible after your offer is confirmed, and ask BKF's immigration counsel for a case-specific projection.
