Frame your portfolio around engineering infrastructure projects
BKF Engineers is a civil and structural engineering firm, so Software Engineer candidates who can demonstrate experience building tools for project management, CAD integration, or field data systems will stand out over generalist software profiles.
Target roles that align with PERM-eligible functions
BKF's immigrant visa sponsorship follows the PERM labor certification process. Roles tied to specialized internal systems or GIS tooling tend to meet the DOL's requirements for demonstrating no qualified U.S. worker is available, which matters when timing your application.
Clarify sponsorship intent before the offer stage
Engineering consultancies often route sponsorship decisions through HR and legal separately from hiring managers. Ask directly during the final interview round whether the specific Software Engineer role you're pursuing has been approved for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
EB-3 petitions require a formal credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the U.S. Get a NACES-member evaluation completed before an offer is made so it doesn't delay the PERM filing timeline after you accept.
Browse open Software Engineer roles using Migrate Mate
BKF Engineers posts Software Engineer openings across multiple locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for BKF positions tagged with employment-based sponsorship so you're only spending time on roles where your visa situation is already a fit.
Account for PERM processing time in your offer negotiation
PERM labor certification at DOL currently takes six to twelve months before USCIS even receives the I-140 petition. If your current visa status has a hard expiration, negotiate a start date and internal transfer option that gives the process enough runway.

Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity for Software Engineers sits within the employment-based immigrant visa categories, specifically EB-2 and EB-3, rather than the H-1B nonimmigrant pathway. If you're currently on an H-1B through another employer, you may still be a strong candidate, but you should confirm directly with BKF's recruiting team whether H-1B transfers are supported for the specific role you're targeting.
Which visa types are commonly used for Software Engineer roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers sponsors employment-based Green Cards for Software Engineers through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories. EB-3 is the more common path for roles requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, while EB-2 applies to positions requiring an advanced degree or exceptional ability. Both require PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor before USCIS can process the I-140 petition.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Software Engineer roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers is a civil and structural engineering consultancy, so Software Engineer candidates are typically expected to have experience building internal tools, data pipelines, or systems that support engineering workflows rather than consumer-facing product development. Familiarity with GIS platforms, project management software integration, or infrastructure data systems is a practical advantage. A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field is the standard minimum qualification.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can find and apply for Software Engineer openings at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify BKF roles where employment-based sponsorship is available before applying. When you apply, tailor your resume to reflect experience with engineering-adjacent software systems and include any credential evaluations or work authorization documentation you already have prepared.
How do I plan my timeline for the Green Card process at BKF Engineers?
The EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card process at a firm like BKF Engineers involves three sequential stages: PERM labor certification with DOL, I-140 petition with USCIS, and adjustment of status or consular processing. From the time an offer is accepted, the full process routinely takes two to four years, depending on your country of birth and current visa priority dates. Starting the process as early as possible after your offer is accepted gives you the most runway.
