Tips for Finding Business Development Jobs at BKF Engineers
Align your BD experience with infrastructure consulting
BKF Engineers operates in civil and infrastructure consulting, so frame your Business Development background around client acquisition and proposal management in technical professional services. Generic sales experience won't stand out; project pursuits and fee negotiations will.
Target roles with PERM sponsorship potential
BKF's sponsorship track record for Business Development sits within the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories, both of which require a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL. Confirm during early conversations whether the specific role is eligible before investing time in the process.
Document your specialty occupation qualifications early
Business Development roles in consulting firms can face scrutiny from USCIS around specialty occupation status. Compile evidence that your position requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field, such as civil engineering, construction management, or business administration.
Time your application around BKF's project pipeline
Engineering consulting firms like BKF ramp up hiring when new contracts are awarded or project pipelines grow. Researching their active infrastructure and land development projects in California can help you identify when Business Development headcount is most likely to open.
Search BKF Engineers' open roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Business Development openings at BKF Engineers and surface roles where sponsorship is part of the hiring profile. This cuts through job boards that don't differentiate between employers willing to sponsor and those that aren't.
Negotiate sponsorship intent before accepting an offer
PERM-based Green Card sponsorship typically takes 12 to 24 months or longer depending on your priority date and country of birth. Clarify with BKF's HR team which visa pathway applies to your role and whether they initiate PERM filings proactively or on request.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity for Business Development roles falls within the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B visa. If you're currently on an H-1B with another employer, you may be able to transfer your status through a portability arrangement, but you should confirm BKF's willingness to file an H-1B petition directly before assuming that pathway is available.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers has sponsored Business Development professionals through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories. Both pathways require a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition. EB-2 typically applies to roles requiring an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers positions requiring a standard bachelor's degree and professional experience.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Business Development roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers is a civil engineering and infrastructure consulting firm, so Business Development candidates are generally expected to have experience in professional services client development, proposal writing, or pursuit management within technical industries. A background in engineering, construction, or land development is advantageous. USCIS also requires that sponsored roles meet specialty occupation standards, meaning a specific degree field must be tied to the position.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can browse current Business Development openings at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles at companies with a verified sponsorship history for international candidates. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply directly through BKF's careers portal and address sponsorship eligibility early in the recruiter conversation to avoid surprises later in the process.
How do I plan my timeline if BKF Engineers sponsors my Green Card?
PERM labor certification with the DOL is the first step and can take six months to over a year depending on audit risk and processing backlogs. After PERM approval, USCIS adjudicates the I-140 immigrant petition, which can add several additional months. If your priority date isn't current, you may wait significantly longer before filing for adjustment of status. Starting this conversation with BKF HR before you accept an offer gives you the clearest picture of your timeline.
