Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Business Development Jobs at Michael Baker International Jobs
Align your credentials to LCA-eligible roles
Michael Baker files Labor Condition Applications with the DOL before sponsoring any H-1B worker. Confirm your degree field directly supports a specialty occupation in business development, such as business administration, finance, or marketing, before applying.
Target proposal and capture management openings
Michael Baker's Business Development pipeline is driven by government contract pursuits, so positions tied to federal capture management or proposal coordination are where sponsorship conversations happen most naturally. Filter your search by those specific function titles.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active sponsoring roles
Browse verified Business Development openings at Michael Baker International through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for employers with active sponsorship track records, so you skip the uncertainty of cold-applying to companies with no filing history.
Clarify your OPT timeline before your first interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, you have a narrow window before cap-season matters. Michael Baker's recruiting cycle for BD roles often runs long, so know your OPT expiration date and STEM extension eligibility before your first conversation with a hiring manager.
Ask about PERM eligibility during offer negotiation
Consulting firms with federal contracting portfolios regularly sponsor EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through PERM. Raise the question of long-term sponsorship intent during offer stage, not after onboarding, so both parties have aligned expectations from the start.
Prepare a concise sponsorship one-pager for recruiters
Business Development hiring managers at consulting firms are not immigration specialists. A one-page summary of your visa type, authorization timeline, and what the company needs to do next removes friction and keeps your candidacy moving through internal approvals.

Find Business Development at Michael Baker International JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Michael Baker International sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Michael Baker International sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Business Development roles. To be eligible, the position must meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard, which typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as business administration, marketing, or a related discipline. Your offer letter and role description need to reflect that requirement clearly.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development roles at Michael Baker International?
H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant visa used for professional Business Development hires. Michael Baker also has a history of supporting F-1 OPT and CPT candidates, TN visa holders from Canada and Mexico in qualifying business roles, and J-1 trainees. For longer-term pathways, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process is also on the table for established employees.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Business Development roles at Michael Baker International?
Most Business Development positions at Michael Baker are oriented around federal and state government contracting, so experience with capture management, teaming agreements, or proposal development under FAR-governed solicitations is valued. A degree in business, marketing, civil engineering, or a related field is standard. Familiarity with infrastructure, transportation, or environmental consulting markets strengthens your profile considerably.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Michael Baker International?
You can find and apply for Business Development openings at Michael Baker International directly through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles from employers with confirmed sponsorship activity so you can target your search efficiently. Once you identify a position, apply through Michael Baker's careers portal. In your application, be upfront about your visa status so the recruiting team can route your file to the right internal stakeholders early.
How do I plan my timeline around H-1B sponsorship for a Business Development offer?
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March each year, with an October 1 start date for selected candidates. If you receive an offer from Michael Baker outside a cap-exempt scenario, your start date will depend on lottery selection and USCIS processing. Align your OPT or current status expiration with that window, and ask your recruiter whether premium processing is available to accelerate the I-129 adjudication.
